My Aloe and Ti Plant
    #19100100 - 11/07/13 11:49 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Just thought I'd show these guys off and learn how to use the native image hosting at the same time.

Here is the Ti, Good Luck, whatever you want to call it plant. This is the compacta variety, when grown in the tropics it's more or less a tree. It has been valued in Hawaii for it's spiritual protection, purification, and healing.

And this is the Aloe Vera, it feels a million times better on skin than the stuff you get from a bottle. I've also noticed it doesn't leave a film when used on skin like some of the commercialized stuff does.

Hope you enjoy the pics, Have a good ass day.

Your ti is looking cute! I need to go to my grandmother's house and take a cutting of some from one of her trees before they are all chopped down. You could also use the ti leaf for cooking certain Hawaiian dishes, like lau lau. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/lau-lau/

Edit: if you do make this, the ti leaves are just the outer wrap to keep the meat and taro leaves moist. You get rid of the ti leaves before eating.

Haha with how big my Ti is, I could cook maybe a bite of meat with two leaves. Good shout though.

I have to say I love the Aloe Vera. I've been meaning to get one for ages but I just keep putting it off  think you've inspired me finally! The trunk looks pretty thick on it, about how old would you say it is?

It's about a decade old, I've only had it for about two weeks though. I'm attempting to clone a few new plants off this one too. One from a leaf that was drooping under is own weight, the other was just a pup that shot off at the bottom. I just stuck em in dirt and the seem to be getting amply water. The leaves aren't dehydrating at all but they still haven't formed roots yet. This was just a few days ago.
