BRF cakes btw, they formed a black layer near the top, and just before full colonization too.
Is this mold? Its not green, and it's not growing (anymore)... He left it out of the initial birthing, and it has not progressed in more than a week. Would you go ahead and fruit them?

Don't know why I didn't post this sooner, but they were birthed this morning, and the black crap removed, just soaking and awaiting an uncertain fate at the moment...
Sorry...

Hope it works out for you. I'd be more worried if the black stuff spread outside of the top layer. How long was it there for? Is it possible it's just myc piss that got your verm wet..? Hard to say anything w/o pics.

I know, I'm a dork... It was left alone for a total of three weeks after first signs of it, and it appeared as a thin black spot that grew slightly over a few days, to like the size of a small pea pod curled at the top of the jar, on one side...
I'm not too too bummed, he's got 9 others doin great!
Thanks for looking

You should never open a cake or anything with black mold of any type in it, especially when you can't ID said mold. You might have just gotten a lung full of Aspergillus Niger spores, which could possibly kill you.
If it ain't white, it ain't right. And when in doubt, throw it out.

some contams , are more dangerous, than peeps think.

There was a poster named Fucknuckle who got mycotoxicosis... Use the search engine. His account of the experience is terrifying.

some contams are hepta carcinogens. they wont kill ya instantly but years later, your liver is wrecked.
by then ya forgot all about the rancid tubs years ago.
its sad, that so many advise the noobs to plow thru contams like they are nothing...........
the community , deserves better.

It won't be the fall from your high horse that kills you. It will be the sudden stop at the end.
