Mountain Entoloma & Cortinarius
    #19098045 - 11/06/13 10:16 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I went for a quick hunt today and had a great time. I can't believe the activity despite no real rain in over a month.

I bought a new camera and am getting used to it. My tripod should come in tomorrow and after viewing these shots I can tell how badly I need one. The Hypholoma picture is a crop from a cluster and turned out pretty nice.

The Cortinarius had a slightly more pronounced blue tint than in my pic, but the remnants of the cortina and the spores all over the place turned out great. The light was horrible or I would have taken pics of the more than 20 specimens that were fruiting near a big fir.

The clustered Entoloma is one I've found several times this fall. It was growing along the side of a trail.  The other is E. bloxamii, at least I think. I collected one a couple of weeks ago that was much smaller, but pretty immature. Both of my collections are from deep, older forest.

That Cortinarius is awesome!  Neat shot.  Also, that is Entoloma bloxamii.
