question about temperature

hi, i was wondering what is the highest temp you can go for colonizing your jars before they die? i have a drawer that stays fairly warm right by our baseboard. even if the temp is close to 80 it will still colonize a lot faster then 73-75?

I actually tested this theory out on my most recent batch because i am new to mycology as well. Inoculated 4 jars, two i put in my TIT incubator which is kept at a constant 82 and the other two jars were kept in the pantry above my fridge which maintains a temperature of around 70-72. After only 3 days the two jars in the incubation chamber were showing aggressive signs of colonization, however the two jars that were kept above the fridge had two mere specs of white mycelium, about 80% less growth in the three day time span

Mainly the higher temps are better for contaminates. There is a graph on here somewhere that gives a good idea of growth rates at various temps if i can find it.

I have my SAB/inoculation/Incubation room set at 82'
Its working very well.
I wouldent even considering letting them incubate anywhere else in the house, as it is only 64-67 de- grees everywhere else in the house.

Mine do fine at 70-75. Any lower and they slow.significantly. i always had bad luck with contams once i got close to 80

last time i let it grow at room temp, it took over a month for my 4 jars to be done. i had 2 that were contaminated. now i have 9 jars so i will try at 82° and see what happens. i hate wait over a month till i can birth. that's way too long it seems like. the jars i was using were even smaller than a cup

I have my TiT set at 80F.
80F does not cause contams. Less than optimal technique causes contams. 80F just exposes this faster.

Thermal death limits have been established at 106 F (TMC, p. 197).

I have a problem keeping my room that im experimenting in above 68-70 degrees, but its a room the kids dont use since it has all recording studio shit in. Im guessing it will slow my growth at these temps. When i go bulk, should go go incubator too?

I have colonized many jars at temps in the low 90s and have never had a prob with contams. I've also had jars low, like 68-65 and they colonized fine they just took a little longer. make sure you use proper sterilizing techniques and you'll be fine. I highly recommend synthetic lid discs. You can PC them thousands of times!
Good luck!!

I don't think an incubator is neccesary with bulk as long as your room isn't below 65F, throw a blanket over it
