these folks manufacture these fancy grow pods. In their brochure, they claim that you can buy shiitake 5 lb growout blocks for 3.50$ a piece in bulk quantity. I gave them a quote of $8.50 per block if they buy 200 a week. ANyone know what sylvan charges in bulk? these folks are local and so they would have to get the sylvan bags delivered from penn or pick them up.

that's a cool idea, but the pic for the mush house didn't really seem realistic.
amycel costs $40 I think, for 18lb bags of millet oyster spawn. but $3.50, are they on crack!?

In their section on fungi, they state:
II. Mushroom Spawning Room:
Purpose: Where inoculations of bulk substrates are conducted before they are sterilized in the pasteurization chamber.
This clearly demonstrates they have no clue as to mushroom production.
I think Sylvan was selling a local grower inoculated bags several years ago for $7 ea. I believe the guy is full of compost with the $3.50 price and I would ask him to see a copy of the quote.

I met the guy who runs/designs this at Telluride mushroom fest. HE has never grown mushrooms before, and had no idea what he was talking about. Not to mention everything was totally overpriced. O yeah; he still hasnt even sold one unit yet, so who knows what u really end up with!!! (that was my first question: has anyone bought this yet, and if so how are they doing?)
I bought ready to fruit shiitake blocks from Lambert for $10/block with shipping. I only got 1 flush out of them before they turned completely green, only got 3/4lb per block with them, there were some mutants, and the strain/quality was only ok. Dont do this lol! I ended up barely breaking even only because i sold them at farmers market for $3/100g (what i sell all mushrooms at for markets.)
