it's a weird psychological phenomenon, but not entirely accurate.
smart people are ALSO SURE of their intelligence, when it suits them to be... and vice versa for dumb people. they can get away with being dumb, just as well as they can try and get away with being smart.
it's a two way street. people just use their heads to get ahead. it's not really a matter of intelligence, whether or not one uses all of ones cumulative IQ; but it is a matter of one forseeing ones possible future in the world ahead.

i think its more of.. intelligent people think their not that smart because theirs an impossible amount of info to contain in this universe thus, leading them to feel like can't ever know everything, making them to feel less intelligent. Thats how I feel a lot of the times at least. I know I'm not the most intelligent in a lot of areas though, thats for sure.
dumb people think they know everything because they just make up info and believe it to be true.

well, true. but people make up shit all the time. sure, you can make up a study that might prove certain facts, but the main behavior of humans, even at their most "scientific", is "let me see if i can make this work" and they try, and maybe fail or succeed.
everyone all the same, does this. it's only some people though, who'd like to think that they're impervious to mistakes. they happen to come in both flavors, i find.

dumb people think they know everything because they just make up info and believe it to be true.
This is what I'm talking about.
Intelligent people know there's a plethora of information and when they compare themselves to it, they don't feel as confident or as sure of their intelligence. I don't think dumber people fully grasp how much information there is and they overestimate their intelligence. Atleast that's my take on it.
and I'm not talking about self-fulfilling prophecies. There's an actual word for this but I don't remember what it is.

but at the same time, I think intelligent people know they're smart when they compare themselves to people in general. I guess intelligent people surround themselves with books and other intelligent folks and that makes them feel not quite as smart. but that could be a good thing. because then they're always pushing themselves to learn more.

But if it were a self-fulfilling prophecy dumb people would think they are smart, and as such become smart. Dumb people who think they are smart are still dumb.

Were all different levels of stupid OR smart...depending on how you look at it
-------------------- Something there is mysteriously formed, Existing before Heaven and Earth, Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging, All-pervading, unfailing, I do not know its name; I call it tao. If forced to give it a name, I call it Great (ta). Being great, it flows out; Flowing out means far-reaching; Being far-reaching, it is said to return. It's just a shot away..
