I photographed these last year, can any identify?
    #19095545 - 11/06/13 02:04 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Just wondered if anyone has an idea of what these may have been (images above) I found them last year but didn't touch them. Only took photos.

These were found on dead wood in quite a darkened area under bare hawthorne bushes next to a canal in Yorkshire UK.

I didn't dare touch them just in case, so I don't know what the gills were like or the stems, they were yellow with an orange centre with a slight nipple ontop, the caps were between 1" and 2" diameter, I shall have a look to see if they are growing again in the same place this year and try to obtain more detail.

I cannot recall a scent at all.

At first I thought they may have been Psilocybe Fascicularis but only guessing at this stage and have no intention of touching them without identification.

This mushroom below:

Was found on grazing pasture on the Yorkshire Wolds, I only found one on its own, it looked a bit like a liberty cap but wasn't sure so left it alone, it had darker gills, pretty much what you see here, any ideas?

This mushroom below:

Was found along with others in damp grazing pasture on the Yorkshire Wolds too, not sure what it is though?

The first one is a Hypholoma of some species. I would call it H. capnoides at a guess. BTW: Psilocybe fascicularis is called Hypholoma fasciculare.

your second mushroom is probably a Conocybe. Were the darker gills reddish? I guess it would be C. albipes.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Crikey you lot are good.

Do you reckon the first 2 are Psychedelic?

After work tomorrow I am going to hunt the Hypholoma and take some pictures, there were loads last year and I hope they are there again this year.

Will upload more photos tomorrow

Just in case of what? Are there mushrooms that are dangerous if you touch them? I don't think you would have been turned into a toad.

The first is surely not, and it is very unlikely the second would be. There are a couple of psychoactive Conocybe, and they can be similar. They would be told by a blue or blueing stipe base and I wouldn't personally mess with eating them myself in any event. I only may have seen one of those species in person and so could not be of much use with them.

Your funny, I didn't fancy touching something that could be poisonous without being able to wash my hands afterward, just a precaution.

I always feel that way when I handle any I know to be, or likely to be deadly. It's unnecessary, but my brain won't seem to convince my brain of that.

Just asking that's all, I have no intention of ingesting any of them, I am only curious as to what they are, I am inexperienced in identifying these types, I can identify some of the culinary mushrooms but that's where it ends.
