Putting things into prospective: Where does your money really go?

Allot of people on here seem to be misinformed about where their tax money goes, or over exaggerate the cost of certain government programs. I thought it would help to shed some light on the facts.

Firefox can't find the server at https.
Not taxing somebody does mean you are giving them something.

The link worked for me, though it isn't the source for the info in the OP's picture (but it does support the info in the picture on corporate subsidies). The source for that would be nice, or rather the source for the info in it as I doubt that the facebook page of BitchyPundit is reliable.
If I were making $50,000 a year (which I'm not) and could reassign my tax money I'd change it to: $20 a year for defense. $250 a year for natural disaster relief. $20 a year for unemployment insurance $2000 a year for food stamps. $1000 a year for welfare. $250 a year for retirement and disability to government workers. $1057.98 a year for my medicare. $0 a year for corporate subsidies
It would be cool if we had a flat tax with the option for individuals to assign their tax money to the areas of their choice.

I followed the link and posted what it was in the other thread where his libnk worked. It is complete unadulterated bullshitQuote:
If I were making $50,000 a year (which I'm not) and could reassign my tax money I'd change it to: $20 a year for defense. 0.04% for defense? Are you insane?
$250 a year for natural disaster relief.
What is wrong with private insurance for that? Why does the government have to do it? Oh Ok I'll go for some. But not one nickel to subsidize flood insurance. That is a known risk. Don't fucking build there. That would have the added benefit of opening up riparian and coastal areas to the general public that is currently tied up in private hands. $20 a year for unemployment insurance.
Once again, really? 0.04% for unemployment insurance when even the most diligent can expect to spend at least a year or two unemployed in their 40 year working career? Do you have any idea what that would make the benefits? That would ensure that anybody unemployed at all would need $2000 a year for food stamps. $1000 a year for welfare.
Food stamps are welfare. So a whopping 6% for bums. Did you know that in 2011 almost a trillion dollars of government largesse was given away for means tested assistance? $250 a year for retirement and disability to government workers.
Why can't wee just pay them and let them fund their own retirement and disability? $1057.98 a year for my medicare.
It seems like you think that that is what it costs. It is actually double that because your employer matches it. If you were self employed your nut would be double. $0 a year for corporate subsidies
I have no problem with that but the only subsidies I recall seeing were to farms and green companies.
It would be cool if we had a flat tax with the option for individuals to assign their tax money to the areas of their choice.
I somewhat support the first idea and don't want any part of the second.
