Should I dunk with large in vitro mushrooms

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I know something like this has been asked before but I'd like a fresh take.
One of my cakes had several of these large, thick mushrooms while it was still in the jar. After I birthed it and immediately dunked it for almost 24 hours (too long?), the large in vitro mushrooms appeared to turn blue, flatten out and die while other mushrooms grew. I can't be totally sure this is what happened because the cakes were covered in verm but that's what it looked like.
So I'm thinking maybe I should fruit the cakes with large in vitro mushrooms WITHOUT dunking/rolling. Or should I dunk for less time? Am I off-base here?
I also have a cake in the jar right now with about a dozen 1-2 inch skinny pins. Should I dunk that one? Now I'm afraid of my pins dying during the dunk and limiting the flush.
(I have pics but I'm not sure how I should post them)

you can eiter pluck it or sit the cake in a saucer of water over night, or just leave tt and fruit with out dunking but i would not go that route as genetics/available moistture is what fruit size depends on

So you think the pins and shrooms wouldn't die if I dunk for more like, say, 12 hours? The shrooms I'm talking about are about 2-4 inches long and half an inch in diameter.
