Can one prepare substrate for pasteurization days before actually pasteurizing?

im guessing no but was wondering.

could someone prep their sub, hydrate, mix, bring to field capacity, then load in jars or bags, days before actually pasteurizing??

I've heard of people successfully having substrate sit for 2-3 days, but if it were me I wouldn't risk it. Prepare it when you're ready to use it.

Maybe a day or 2 before its pastuerized, might be benifical like soaking grains.is., geminating endospores. Any longer might let them start reproducing, causing more nasties then you started with and they could start cutting into available nutes. Just my thots. I have no proof of it.

It my 1000th post! :headbanger:

Yeah, that raises a good point, I wonder if it'd be a good idea to let spores germinate before pasturization.

as well as save me a boatload of time allowing me to prep susbstrate and load into bags one day, and the next day or 2 later just pasteurize back to back.

prepping the sub is so nothing to me as i just weigh out my coir, (i buy in 11kg blocks) and mix in verm and water and cover.

loading the ziplock bags takes a minute as i try to keep them all as even as possible and with that i weigh them to keep within range of each other.

it takes me about all day to prep and pasteurize 2 subs worth.  id like to be able to prep 4 to 5 tubs worth one day, and spend the next day or 2 pasteurizing.

If you're using CVG, I'd say it should be fine. That stuff can sit for a long time without showing contams. I wouldn't imagine anything of significance would show up in a couple of days.
