PNW Identification Request - UW campus, help a first timer learn :D
    #19093058 - 11/05/13 10:47 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hey guys, strolling around today i came across a couple patches of mushrooms. Im not very good at identifying, and these are probably common random mushrooms. but atleast ill know a few of the local mushrooms i keep seeing.

Thank you guys!

Species #1

Habitat:
Pacific northwest, UW campus. 1/2 mile from lake.
Woodchip ground, mycelium in woodchips. Heavy leaf groundcover.
Shady, mostly under trees, only

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
tan on rim, grey towards inside

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

tan, mostly white. Clearish in some parts. No blue/black, concerns me

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

round, no frills, no nipple. Species #1, entirely brown. Species #2 looks exactly the same as #1, but #2 has a white portion on top of cap.

Spore print color:
Very important!
5 PM: spore print currently sitting. Will post spore prints in 3 hours
(sorry, but i want to try and ID these quick so i can dry if they are psilocybes)
3 hours in, spore print in a brown/black. doubting these mushrooms are anything :P

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
No bruising color (concerns me). most of stem is clear, white, or tan

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

even if these two aren't psilocybes, it would be interesting to know what this patch this is. been having fun with the hunt :P. Not in a rush to try them either.

Also, i did not pick this patch below. Only got a picture, but i still know exactly where it is. Should i have picked this patch? I dont expect a full ID from this picture, but if you guys think these are psilocybe, let me know and ill go back and pick them for a good ID

and i got a few other types as well, but i only got one or two of them. Im not going to eat them, so full ID wouldnt be necessary. But if anything looks good, ill make a full line of pics

Mycena, Tubaria, Armillaria. None are psychoactive.
