Pure dung inoculation?

Hi all
There is lots of smart info on shroomery about the difference between dung and other substrates...
http://www.shroomery.org/5210/Why-is-dung-and-straw-better-pasteurized-than-sterilized
I have pure dung/straw and thought I'd give it a try with Violet's Grain Petri tek.
So this may be a newb question, but knowing this could be inoculated with grain spawn, or some agar, in theory, would it also work if inoculated with a few drops from a seringe?
(It's just that I'm looking for a rare dung loving species and having more ease finding it in seringe form versus print form).
Thanks
Jpack

Its not a good option. Even liquid cultures don't take to bulk subs. And the spores take too long to germinate in large subs, giving the molds a jump start

This is an issue im dealing with, and am about to find out, have manure substrate bags, but no good way to inoc. with grains. So the consensus was drop a brf cake into one bag, and inoculate the other dung bag with just spores. From all the reading ive done, it sounds like yes it is possible, but the spores need or would like more sugars or carbohydrates than dung has. However most of the arguments made in the threads ive read were from knowledgeable people who haven't tried to just inoc straight dung, and the few who claim they have said they got it to work. I don't think its ideal, liquid culture or grains are ideal, Mycelium likes it, not as much spores. But supposedly its possible and im about to find out. I don't know why you wouldn't just do it the right way if you can. And more importantly I do not think it would be easier in the end, having many more fails in the end due to poor colonization, and eventually succumbing to contams more in the long run.

Mycelium likes it
...I confirm this to be true. So I thought grain and agar also... But spores????

why don't you just try it now
Don't have a seringe at this time... When I do, I'll let you know if I get to try anything... Unless someone's already aware of a reason why it wouldn't work.

Wow, LCs don't take to bulk subs??? Even if it had dung/straw qualities (see above link; it states that if pasteurized, there will be bacteria protecting the dung from harmful contams left over after the heat will have destroyed the harmful bateria, making it not sterile but "protected").
Honestly, if I can't get an LC to take in pasteurized dung, I would agree with you that spores would only do worse
But if that's the case, I can always use agar. (Still need the spores though, waiting for new inventory)

A quote that may be the answer to my question
Given the fact that I won't be 100% sure if the seringe will be "clean", I am probably better off going to agar first, especially since I know from experience that mycelium likes dung -- I would assume that this means it also likes agar.
