Hello everyone I just want to start off by saying hello! I have been researching about the San Pedro cactus and have found a cactus in which I believe is indeed a San Pedro. Can someone be kind enough to see if the cactus I have discovered is a San Pedro cactus? Thank you for your time!!

Yes San Pedro. Where is it growing? You ain't gonna poach somebody's cactus without asking are you?

Yes you really should ask permission if you want to take piece to yourself as cutting or something.
If I am the owner of that cactus and find out someone has cut column from it, it would make me feel sad cause it ruins anyway the appearance of cactus.
It's very polite to find out and ask permission if you plan to take piece of cutting from someones plant. Never steal a plant nor take cutting if it's not growing on your own property.

Depends on your definition of the word "safe"

I didn't steal the cactus FYI, but what do you mean "don't steal that cactus!" Isn't the brugmansia the plant with a lot flowers in the back?
By the way this ended up not being a San Pedro...my first experience with this cactus was a huge fail..and I was mostly disappointed because it was indeed identified as a SP above..

It is a San Pedro. It looks like what is usually called "PC Clone" which is known for being not very potent. Order yourself a bridgesii online.

Wow...so there aren't any "clones" that's just a slang-like term used to define very weak San Pedro? How many ft would I need to consume for a deep trip? <SNIP>
Please read the EG rules, there isn't many. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7399068

And how can you tell the differences between these "PC clones" and potent sp?

Unless you are really lucky to find one, potent San Pedros are almost nonexistent in the US. I would order a bridgesii from a Shroomery sponsor. I know World Seed Supply carries them. Not sure how they are to deal with. I'd offer to trade you one myself, but I'm not doing any more cutting this year.

If you mean about "san pedro" it's potent cactus, there is lots of different columnar appearance with relatively good potency of mescaline. But san pedro is also said to be t. pachanoi, spineless trichocereus.
I think probably at USA cactus clones named t. bridgesii(achuma) have more chance to get potent cactus cause most of t. pachanoi(=san pedro) cause "PC Pachanoi" are very common find in USA..
If you have money to declare customs your plants and to do paperworks, you can buy potent san pedro from EU, there are not much of same PC-Pachanoi clones than USA. Even most of the nurseries doesn't sell plants for consumption but I have heard most bigger san pedro and bridgesii are here potent. But that thing is varying so much and clones are lots of different ones available.
Easier way to find nursery in states who sell t. bridgesii or various t. pachanoi/peruvianus if you want to find a cactus with relatively good amount of mescaline for experience. I think t. bridgesii have more change to find mescaline in cactus than any other cactus in USA.
And yes, there is lots of non potent "real" san pedro/peruvian torch or bridgesii around the world. If you have no laboratory equipment to test mescaline(and it's analoques) in cacti, then only way to test it is extraction or making beverage from cactus cutting what is obviously illegal to do so that's why probably most of people doesn't even know what cactus have mescaline in them and what doesn't. Also in EU trichocereus from smartshops can be relatively weak(but still active) clones but I doubt you can't find same clones of san pedro from USA if you're planning to ingest a section of cactus.
I know one EU nursery where is very potent san pedro around, but I cannot say what it is cause it's not a sponsor. Also I don't say more how potent the plant is but compared to erowid information of dried trichocereus dosage, clone is more close to peyote than trichocereus information. So yes, there can be very potent san pedro around, very rare in USA anyway. If you don't find clone imported to USA from south america where are very potent san pedro usually, then you should try to obtain t. bridgesii and try their potency.

I've got a good pachanoi like that, but it'll be at least a couple years till I have any cuttings available for trade. I only have a few cuttings myself.
