I chose Oblivion in the ES poll. I'm not sure why necessarily, it just stands out in my memory. I liked the music and the bright shiny glade look. I still have a copy of the music files on my flash drive that I carry around.

Yeah... there's just something about that music.

I may have been too young to appreciate Morrowind, and now I'm too old and sober to appreciate Skyrim fully. Oblivion, however, was popular at just the right time.

I don't have enough experience with those other franchises to participate in the poll.

I don't know if I could really pick a favorite genre. I do appreciate the sandbox type games like E.S. and Minecraft. I might enjoy GTA games if I played them but I think they might be a bit too close to reality for proper escapism.

I chose Oblivion because I didn't pick up Morrowind until after Oblivion and Morrowind was amazing but felt dated. Skyrim is also amazing but Oblivion is my home. I really couldn't put these games down and I lost a lot of sleep playing them until reality came calling, fuck modern reality.

GTA, I chose San Andreas because its what I started GTA games on and it's the best IMO for multiple reasons. It's just so awesome, I haven't played the new GTA.

The MGS series were all amazing but in the end I had to go with MGS4 just because its the most updated technology but IMO they're all equal in awesomeness.

I chose Final Fantasy 10 because IMO it had the best story and characters that I just fell in love with. 7, 8 and 9 come very close to 10 but 10 is boss.

I chose COD4 for the simple reason that its the most realistic and I had months of game time online on it and I wish I hadn't wasted my days on it so much but it was the funnest online shooter ever and I was an absolute unstoppable beast. This is the game that really made me quit online game because its too addictive and it made me realize that at least in long ass RPG games I was living a story whereas online gaming, I'm just sitting on my ass. Loved this game though!

Oblivion, because not only was it the first open world sandbox game I had ever played (which is also my favorite genre) it just blew my mind with all the delicious lore and amazing dlc while letting me live out my childhood dream of being a knight. I must have had at least 50 different characters.

GTA, I chose GTA 5 because the story really captivated me more than any other, I didn't really like GTA 4 and san andreas while awesome is just too dated.

Don't like MGS or Final Fantasy.

Why the FUCK isn't COD2 on here?! It's EAAAASILY the best one. EASILY.

50 characters?!? I could barely even keep up with one! It was so time consuming!

You're crazy for not liking MGS or FF, best storyline a in games ever!

COD2 wasn't on there because I didn't play it an it can't possibly be better than 4, haha.

Oblivion is the only game I've easily sunk 1000+ hours into. That's not an exaggeration either.

Yeah I get a lot of flak for not liking MGS or FF but my reasoning is that I simply never played the early ones as a kid so subsequently never got pumped for any of the new ones.

I kinda disagree about FF being a great storyline though, I can't stand all the angst woven into each and every character tbh.

And you'd be wrong about COD2, it may be a bit dated but I could still go back and play it, loving every minute of it, I feel it encompasses the scope of warfare better than any other COD to date. 2 and 4 are easily the two best so I would highly recommend playing 2 at some point.

I believe it, the entirety of the game is damn near flawless.

The third MSG was a prequel, I got into the series trough the second one. I had played some of the first but not enough to grasp the storyline until I did research.

That's what I love about final fantasy so to each his own.

I played the first or second COD but I never played it online and so I didn't put It up there because I wasn't sure if the first two are online and knline is mainly what I meant. Cause no one buys FPS for a storyline IMO, especially RPG sand boxers like me, ha.

I bought the first couple CODs for the story
but the COD2 online was actually really great for its time, I'm sure it's pretty empty nowadays.

Well the COD games do have great story. The online sucks now but 4 and earlier were awesome in my opinion. I don't have the resources to play online anymore and I don't game any at all, just don't have the time, wish I did for skyrim though, hasa.

They used to have good stories up till 4 yeah. Not after though.

I just started playing Skyrim again recently, while they did improve some stuff like leveling mechanics and the character models I can't help but feel a little mad that they dumbed so much of it down to appease casual gamers. But hey, it's still a good entry in the series.

My only problem with skyrim was the character creation an the bugs. Hard as hell to make a jack of all trades type character. I wanna be an Mage/assassin with some fighting skills. It's hard to really enjoy the JOAT theory when you can't relish in setting an explosive trap, killing a powerful Mage from 200 yards with a bow, summon a demon while throwing fire bolts at the oncoming onslaught of enemies and finally pulling out a sword at the last minute to mercy kill the most powerful foot soldier of the group. I mean DAMN magic is sooo amazing that I can't go without it BUT stealth kills are so BAD ASS then you realize HOLY SHIT I wanna disarm people grab their weapons and slay them with their own shit! Fuck yeah and raise their own against them! Fuckig awesome, why can't I just do it all?! Haha, I guess that's what gives it reply value though which is a good thing. I LOVED skryims quick menu though.

what I dislike about the magic in Skyrim so much is that while it now looks gorgeous, they scrapped an entire school mysticism, got rid of all the awesome Alteration spells like walk on water, magically unlocking locks (why does my mage needs to be an expert lockpicker???) and then did away with creating your own spells... FOR SHAAAME Bethesda.

I also just dislike the lack of set archtypes like Oblivion, I would think that it's actually easier to be a jack of all trades in skyrim because there are no class restrictions, I however never really play that type of character. I like to do my holy knight, my barbarian, my wizard, my necromancer, my thief, my assassin, etc.

Yeah, I fuckin hated that about skyrim but the locking picking was so easy you really didn't even need that whole skill tree at all. I also hated the inability to create spells WTF and really missed some of the neater and funner spells.

It was and it wasn't easier. For instance, I really HAD to outmost of my skill points in magic because if I didn't then I'd never be a Mage and I could sort of miss out on almost of the other skills however even if I chose one or two then I'd never be a master of magic and have the abilities that I wanted. For instance in oblivion, I disarmed a few people and I wasn't a huge melee fighter but on skyrim I had 0% chance of ever disarming someone which I think is stupid. I mean I could reach 100 in my mastery of the blade and still not be able to use the disarm technique? Lame! I could reach 58 in blade on oblivion and if I figured out the right technique on the controller then I at least TRY to disarm someone which I think is the height of the melee combat and the game physics, watching a sore go spinning through the air seeing the glint in the sunlight before it hits the snow and rolls down the depths of a mountain is just awesome...then laughing as the guy slams his fist into your shield and you fry him with an electric touch that causes his knees to buckle or in the case of a super Mage, him to fly off the mountain, haha.

I personally HATE doin multiple characters. I do one that would it my personality, heavily relying on magic, destruction, summonings, bows, sneaking and a back up blade if I run into any problems. After my first play through I try to make certain characters for certain things but I usually end up playing my first character every time.

wow I had almost completely forgotten about the skills for novice, journeyman, expert, master, etc. not to mention the awesome touch spells... god I miss that shit

ah I see, we're two different sides of the same coin when it comes to Elderscrolls

I can't stand playing the character that does every quest and guild in one playthrough while mastering all the skills, it doesn't seem as realistic to me.

I personally like to have different characters with different personalities and beliefs. That kind of role playing aspect is what I love about the games so much, I can be a different person in a different world, I love that shit. to each their own though!

Exactly! I love that aspect too but I'm not the kind that can play like that unfortunately! Haha. It's be much easier if we could play online and each take on certain roles within a group, now that'd be awesome. There'd be a catch to that though and honestly, I don't know if I'd play it online, haha.

ESO is coming out, but so far from what I've seen I don't like it at all.

they should just make a 2-4 player co op Elderscrolls instead..

My thoughts exactly, I rarely ever game anymore anyways so it don't matter. If I had a system I'd only play skyrim or maybe those listed above for nostalgia but there's really nothing out that I'd bother with, I'm too busy learning music.

I hate MP now. I used to LOVE it but it seems like a big waste of time like I said.

I play guitar, I'm looking to pick up other instruments cause I've had so much fun with the guitar. I'm thinking a flute and a didgeridoo down the road. You play any?
