Incubation question

This is my first time cultivating Ps. Cubensis, I have been incubating my jars for about six weeks. I have six jars and most of them are colonized with thick, white mycelium all the way through except the very bottom of the jars. I t seems to be very miniscule growth in the last week and a half. I also realized that for the last week my incubation chamber has registered at 86 degrees Fahrenheit for the last week or so.. is that hot enough to damage or retard mycelium growth? or kill it. They are Amazonians.

Yes, 86F will retard growth somewhat. Bacteria also like to take off at 86F, especially if there's excess moisture pooling in the bottom. Six weeks is kind of a lot--pics?

Wait, you have pins? If you're getting them before full colonization and at the six-week mark, bacteria are likely. Birth the jars, remove any uncolonized grain, dunk and sprinkle verm on them, and then put them into your shotgun.

it's stalling because you used the wrong jars, the bottom of your sub is compact. 86 is pretty hot and didn't help things. sometimes after a jar has beeen colonizing for so long the parts that are consolidated before the bottoms colonized cause a gap between your cake and the jar giving you a microclimate, then to boot it has a hard time coloniziing your bottom due to the jar size and gravity drawing moisture to the bottom compacting your sub and it sorta treats it like a contam all leading too early pinnning. i et it smells like sour apples t birth, but just wait it out n see wut happens and try haalf pints next time and not the tall ones either tthey should be as tall as they are wide

oh see, i didnt realize i shoulda been using jars half this size, that explains alot. ive only had my thermometer out of commission for about 6 days. before that its been steady at 82 degrees. Also, i dont have a shotgun chamber, I ahve a 10 gallon aquarium, with moist perlite casing the bottom, and an air pump and want beneath the perlite. its brand new, i got my 6500K daylight bulb in the lamp and plastic over the top with a light mesh lid. hygrometer and thermometer. you think i should birth them, and shave the excess substrate and see what happens?

This makes no sense at all.
A casing layer is a non nutritious layer applied to the top of a colonized substrate and nothing else.
Perlite is meant to humidify a SGFC and nothing else.
Glass aquariums sucked 20 years ago....build a proper SGFC.

Can air flow up thru it like in a SGFC?

i have an aquarium air pump and an 8 inch bubble wand across the bottom to push oxygen from the bottom to the top, and i plan on fanning throughout the day. i planned to have my light and pump on 12/12 cycle, with it on at night. (11-11) when im home during the rest of the day i planned to fan. any input is being absorbed, i dont assume i know everything, or anything for that matter.

If you return your pump you can probably afford one hell of a Sterilite container.

i got my pump from a petsmart.. i dont have a receipt, how much should a sterilite container run me for? im shooting for 6 cakes, expect/hoping for 4 to make it.. they seem clean. I can afford what is necessary to do right. it looks like just a sterilite tub, with holes throughout on risers, and a half bag of damp perlite, and my 6500k daylight bulb is all i need? is there any use i can make of my aquarium tank i bought off amazon? i used to dry fruits in it with a fan but i just got a dehumidifier yesterday.

A small, clear, sterlite container should cost you, oh, 5-10$ or so.
Get one that allows for 4" of perlite. The height of your cake, and 4-5 extra inches.
Or you can get two smaller ones and stack them on top of each other to make a "dub tub" type container.
I've always used a pump and bubble wand in my FC, so there's no need to return that.
Mushrooms like tons of FAE, so might as well force some in.

Don't worry, this is just how the learning process works. I'd heavily recommend making a sgfc and getting the correct size jars for next time, but at least you learned something! I also made the mistake of buying the tall half pints, but fortunately I didn't use them for brf cake. I have no experience with the pf tek, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but if you get rid of the stalled parts I think you'll do just fine!

right. ok ill buy my sterilite container tomorrow first thing. put holes thru. switch perlite, i got peroxide in there, and i have had my system running for the last two days on the timer. should u cut my cakes in half? i pretty sure they are colonized almost all the way through and pretty healthy. there was a couple brownish spots, that went away (i heard it was just mycelial waste, makes sense) it seems like some of my pins are gaining color (brown). should i make my shotgun chamber and birth them tomorrow? as they are or should i treat them. I need to dunk and roll in vermiculite though first. I can have them in FC day after tomorrow?

Clean off the uncolonized parts, dunk them for 12-24 hours, roll them in vermiculite, then put them in a proper SGFC.

But I would sprinkle with verm, rather than roll in it, to preserve the extant pins.
