Getting a little creative
    #19092139 - 11/05/13 07:52 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Im starting greenhouse cultivation in an effort to get a higher success rate with just using a quart of spawn for multiple smaller grows, rather than throwing 5 or 6 into a tub and taking gamble.

Obviously trays are going to be an option for me.

However i was wondering about using some mycobags since i have some laying around.. What issues do you think i would face if i decided to take a mycobag of pasteurized bulk sub and add spawn to it? ill be using coir and verm.

Mycobags are notorious for having insufficient FAE for fruiting. Lined trays would be the way to go in a greenhouse.

I think it would be cool to have a bunch of fat cakes hanging out in the greenhouse.

Oh, then they're called blocks.  It's difficult to keep moisture high enough at the surface of blocks to induce decent pinning with cubensis, but that's exactly how many people grow shitake and lion's mane.

Greenhouses can be finicky to get dialed in. IMHO, the are a PITA.

I had the same thoughts as you at one time. Proper pasteurization fixed me up. Tore my GH down and never looked back.

Issues you might run in to is:

Mold in your humidifier. Puddles of water on the floor. Lack of FAE. Over-saturation of substrate. Mold in your PVC pipes. Too much time and money on timers and other equipment. And some other stuff I've tried to put out of my mind.

Good luck. I hope your success rate is better than mine was. I know it's not exactly what you were asking, but I still wanted give my opinion.
