Pf tek - what is a true cup?

Hello. Here's a question that has plagued me when I'm baking a cake or growing mushrooms. How do you guys measure out your cups? The 2:1:1 pf tek recipe for 5 jars calls for one cup of BRF. So I sift my flower and take a the dry cup measure and pick up a scoop. What I normally do then is level the scoop off, stab the flower a few times with butter knife till the level decreases, and level off with more BRF. I call that a 'cup' of flower. Truthfully I could fill that dry cup measure up with flower, tap the flower down, add more flower, and repeat. The end result is a level 'cup', and significantly more flower in the recipe. How do you guys measure out your dry measures? Whats the 'correct' way?

It's a ratio. Use 2 toilets full verm 1 toilet full h2o and brf.
All that matters is your consistency. You can use 2-1-1 of anything gallons cups or toiletfulls

We're splitting hairs here.
I was more concerned about if I should have measured the rice before or after I ground it down. Turns out its the same

yea maybe I'm just over thinking it. But there is a big difference between packing the flower or just pouring it in. How you measure the flower could change the ratios.

don't pack it.
I've been cooking and following recipes for years. I've never heard of anyone packing the measuring cup. I've heard level and heaping, but not packed.

Fudge?
The only thing I have ever seen packed in cooking/baking is brown sugar.

[gradient:#3D3C38,#][/gradient]ok so I have these colonized jars and crappy directions as to the next step. I believe I need to build a fruiting chanber, but which one will work for what I am growing???? they are GT spores and I got premade jars from a company. the jars are very good at this point, I just need to get them moving, before they fail.

Nice first post thread-jacking.
For GT? IF it's a PF style cake then the SGFC is the best for that strain.
If your jars are some sort of grain, then I would make a monotub.
Both of these are the excellent for GT strain.

woah there buddy. Make your own thread. These are all things you can find on your own by reading the rules and the getting started posts. You really should do that first.
Then watch these then come ask some questions. You'll want to watch the BRF/PF tek and shot gun fruiting chamber / tererrium tek(SGFC) If the BRF jars look like yours then make the SGFC.
If your jars look different than those look at the grain videos. If they look like the grain videos then make a new topic about how to spawn grain and take some pictures of your jars.

Maybe if you're loading up a trailer load of BRF, but we're talking about a measuring cup here. The difference isn't as significant as you're making it out to be.
