I think to view technology in such a way one would need to be a pretentious ass, possibly in the 18 yr old range.

Technology can be used in great ways to enhance our lives or enlighten the mind. Sure you could stare at TV all day, but one could engage in other unhealthy habits as well.

Look at myself staring into a screen? Im navigating through my mind, learning things, stimulating my brain, and playing games.

Dont just think with your eyes and brain, use your heart instead of trying to demonize the western world and technology as a whole :commonsense:

It really is not. The planet itself is quite durable, and life will most likely go on in some form on earth no matter what we do (although in a few billion years it will all be extinguished by the heat of the sun.)

Technology is expanding horizontal instead of vertical if you know what I am saying

The world doesn't belong to us, we belong to it.
Always have, Always will.
We belong to the world.
We belong to the community of life on this planet-
It doesn't belong to us.
We got confused about that, now it's time to set the record straight.

I agree that technology can be used in positive ways. I often research interesting stuff on the internet. But what about all the other animals on the planet? We are destroying there home for our benefit. I just don't see you can say technology is great. It may be great your life, but its destroying our world! I don't know maybe this is how every intelligent species affects their planet, but it just doesn't seem right.

Technology is saving our world and is spreading information on how to do so. In fact its often the underly developed societies that lack technology that have huge issues with disease and polution.....not to mention ignorance and twisted practices.

A quick google search may show to TONS of folks that raping a small child DOESNT cure HIV  which is a method used by some African men  :bored:

True, but we wouldn't have to develops new technology to fix our earth if technology never existed. Once the Sun engulfs the earth everything will be all good.

The way I see it, technology isn't destroying the earth. It's the way we use our resources and the general mentality of people giving no shits about things, underlying the use of technology, that's fucking up the earth.

That doesn't make technology inheirently(sp?) bad though.

Agreed...

It comes down to how we use a technology, not the technology itself, that is "bad" or "good" for us and the earth.

Just how many plants & drugs can be a medicine ("good") and a poison ("bad"), it simply comes down to the dosage and how it's used....it's our choices and the way we use something, not the "something" itself.

And technology is a pretty broad term....everything from sharp rocks to rockets, pen & paper to the internet. Technology is a part of being human IMO.

Nowadays technology is definitely part of the human experience.  Who knows maybe technology is the next step in evolution. Think of this. You are born in the year 3043, the world is a wasteland. Directly after your born you are connected to a machine. This machine is the new Universe, endless landscapes and possibilities, all a simulation. This is where the human race lives, inside the machine. We can do whatever we please in this universe without disrupting the outside universe where unintelligent beings live. We could make maps and go there it would be like endless possibilities. Maybe we already are in the machine and we don't even know it!

Technology is a part of evolution, in a sense....

Check out this technology that we used to use>>>

I honestly think we'll be able to do something like that long before 3043, I'm thinking we'll have the tech and ability to do that in the next 100 to 200 years or so...if not sooner.

And exactly...I wouldn't be all that surprised if this "reality" that we reside in is actually a simulation, the "universe" itself being a technology. And what ever is running the simulation is likely in a simulation, and what ever is running that simulation is in a simulation, so on and so on fractaling.

Simulations being created of ones reality, in the image of ones reality, to try to bring a farther understanding of ones "reality"....

I can't help but visualize this abstract image of humans merging or transferring their awareness/consciousness with a "machine". I'm using the word machine as being a new system or vessel or network to contain our awareness/consciousness....and taking a step back from that, seeing that something similar has already occurred before this, something that merged or transferred "its" awareness/consciousness into the machine we know as "nature" or the "universe" .

...err, something like that  , if that makes any sense. It's just a random wild speculation & pondering I've had.
