first grow: bucket question

well my first grow is still going well. Started with 30 BRF jars and have no contams just a bruising scare. took 11 cakes to SGFC and through two flushes have produced 74g dry. Two trays have completed first flush (7 jars total there) and those gave 28.6g dry. Two buckets are pinning and growing, and a third tray is colonizing.
Would like some opinions on this bucket:

I've started misting it 3x daily because I'm concluding it's dry and the side pins are the only place that's wet enough to create pins.
After this harvest, thinking I may give it a full dunk and move it to a SFGC, to try to avoid contams on the side and get more out of it. Any thoughts on that idea?
Thanks amigos, appreciate all your help so far and couldn't have had this success without this forum and all the wonderful people who help out us noobs!

Good idea, if you fruit it as a cake you will yield a whole lot more. Careful after dunking that it does not crumble on ya due to too much weight. So take it out and put it on a rack before the dunk. Then after the dunk, let it drip dry.

Thanks Mush. So the sides are essentially the only pins so far, just a couple on top. Can I expect top to pin do you think if I move it, or will this just be a side-fruiting beast in a SGFC?

If you set it on a elevated rack with large holes in it, in the fruiting chamber you could get bottom pinning, side pinning, and top pinning.
Like I said put the "cake" on a rack, dunk, drip dry, then pop it in your sgfc on the rack.

Get a wire basket like this and shorten the sides with wire clippers and put the cake on top of it in the fruiting chamber, make sure the holes in the wire are at least 2". If the cake does not want to stay together than just forget it and let it be. I have seen this method produce more than any other under the right conditions.
Good luck

unless that's a shadow, you have a huge mold patch right in the middle of that bucket.
I would loosen the poly at the top top to increase FAE. This may help get better pinning on top.

it is a shadow, I have some tape on the saran in the center to assist in helping the bucket breathe FAE. no mold so far!

I would clip every second wire to make the gaps at least 2", probably totally unnecessary.

Generally with monotubs, and this is similar, there is a dry ring around the polyfil at the bottom and a ring and line around the top polyfil. This indicates good FAE.
I don't see that happening in your bucket. I've never done a bucket grow so I can't say for sure, but I would think the signs of FAE would be at least similar.

I've got that normally (dryness around my holes ) I had just sprayed them when I shot this photo. The buckets are actually performing pretty well I think, at least I think they'll out-perform my trays on a jar-for-jar basis from what I'm seeing so far, once I get some agar clones going I'm going to try a full mono though!
