Should fuzzy stems be scraped for storage?

This may sound like a stupid question, and it probably is. But I have to ask. When fruits are dried, should mycelium on stems be scraped off or left for consumption? I know that it's safe to eat, but will it rot or I guess maybe acquire mold over time? Finishing up some before work so input would be appreciated. Thanks!

No reason to take the ends off your shrooms, the base that is mushroom/mycelium is fine. If it is ALL mycelium then cut it off.

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask why? Or rather what the difference is between having a fuzzy base or having a full coat?

Most of the fuzz will disappear in the drying process. I've never given it a second thought. If you get right down to it, its all the same thing anyway

But what of the fuzz left after drying is complete? I was just concerned that if the rest of the fruit has to be cracker dry to store safely without molding, then wouldn't excess mycelium on the stem need to be as dry or removed, to avoid molding as well?

If your fruit is dry, then that fuzzy myc is dry. Don't worry about it. It's fine.

Word. Many thanks. This is my fifth attempt and my first even semi-successful grow, so I'm just trying to take precautions. Appreciate everyone's help.

I've seen you on here for a while, and I'm glad you had success. As others have said, if the fruit itself is dry, the fuzz is looooong past dry due to the much higher surface area/mass ratio.
