North Korea - How much longer can an insane country like that exist?

I sometimes get anti American sentiments due to the US invading all these poor countries but when I compare it to north Korea, it kinda puts things in perspective. What an insane shithole. How long can a country like this exist in the modern world?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korean_famine
In 2011, during a visit to North Korea, former US President Jimmy Carter reported that one third of children in North Korea were malnourished and stunted in their growth because of a lack of food. He also said that the North Korean government had reduced daily food intake from 1,400 calories to 700 calories in 2011[62] (by comparison, a normal food intake for a healthy European is 2,000-2,500 calories per day[63]). Some scholars believed that North Korea was purposefully exaggerating the food shortage, aiming to receive additional food supplies for its planned 2012 mass celebrations by means of foreign aid.[64]
Escaped North Koreans reported in September 2010 that starvation had returned to the nation.[65] North Korean pre-school children are 3 to 8 cm (1.2 to 3.1 inches) shorter than South Koreans.[66] Roughly 45% of North Korean children under the age of five are stunted from malnutrition and the population of kotjebi persists.[67] Most people eat meat only on public holidays, namely Kim Il-sung's and Kim Jong-il’s birthdays.[68] One report by the Tokyo Shimbun in April 2012 claimed that since the death of Kim Jong-il in December 2011, around 20,000 people had starved to death in South Hwanghae Province.[69] Another report by the Japanese Asia Press agency in January 2013 claimed that in North and South Hwanghae provinces more than 10,000 people had died of famine. Other international news agencies have begun circulating stories of cannibalism.[70]

Well, if I was in charge of a powerful country which decided to change north Korea, I'd propose backing South Korea in an attempt to annex the north. Problem is like you said though, South Korea is a capitalist shithole like the US, in which people die on the streets without food. Things are fucked up everywhere, but I'd much rather live in South Korea than North. In the South they don't send people to die in forced labour people for accidentally tearing a newspaper page with Kim Sung-Ils picture on it, or not crying at the funeral of a deceased leader.
And as for north Koreans not starving, thats not true, you just don't hear about them starving as often for obvious reasons. You only hear about the extreme cases like when people are forced to resort to cannibalism: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/report-starving-north-korean-father-resorts-cannibalism-article-1.1250773

The situation will be handled soon enough, Dennis Rodman is secretly the reincarnation of Jesus fucking Christ, and after gaining complete trust from Kim Jong Un; will publicly cut his head off, and usher in a new era of democracy to North Korea.

Who exactly is dieing in the streets without food in america? Unlike North Korea, you have a right to world class emergency medical care, including sandwhiches, in the US. Things are generally good enough that even the homeless can make enough to eat, however.
And yes, people do die in the streets in North Korea from everything we know there. The rural areas aren't doing so well, comrade.

As long as China supports them and the US desires a modern example of communism that
Maybe one day China will be weakened and some conflict between North and South Korea will ensue and the US or another western, capitalist ally of South Korea will "come to the rescue" of South Korea/use newly captured North Korean land for an economic, military, and political power gain in relation to the Chinese. At least that's how I see a theoretical downfall of the communo-fascist government in North Korea occurring

Can you imagine, if the military turns, what the people are going to do to Kim when they get their hands on him? Its going to be slow and really painful, that's for sure.

Eh... The little knowledge on the society of North Korea would suggest that its population has been heavily brainwashed, so if the government fell it could be more like, "Kim Jong-Un isn't the demigod son of his beloved father? What is life?" *kills self*

This is basically it. China doesn't want any more western influence in the Korean Peninsula, which would undoubtedly occur unless (this is a hypothetical unless, it will never happen) China absorbed North Korea, instead of uniting South Korea and North Korea.
Nothing more needs to be said. China likes the spacer between US bases and their country.

Somehow I doubt they are so good at brainwashing as to be able to make starving people content.

From what I hear they've done a pretty good job. I think that culture puts patriotism above everything. I think they would rather collectively die than admit they are not a great nation and exceptional among cultures. This is what makes them dangerous. Not a good idea to let such types have nuclear capabilities. They would rather all go up in smoke than lose face.

If they had done such a good job, there wouldn't constantly be people defecting and the need for such a huge police force.
And my point is that even with idealogical indoctrination, starvation is a motivator for anyone.

Yeah, the prospect of a less harsh existence is more powerful a motivator than patriotism when ones existence is exceptionally harsh.
