What do I need to melt a bunch of glass bottles together?

Equipment wise, like a glass torch or what? I'll have all of the safety equipment of course and none of the bottles will be sealed and are all empty. I plan on making an xmas tree out of all the alcohol bottles I've saved from summer just to see if I can.
I basically just need a cheap torch to burn a hole through one bottle so I can insert another in its place and wait for it to cool.
Any reasons why this wouldn't work? I'll admit I have no knowledge on the subject but I figured it would be cool if it actually worked.
If people don't just end up derailing this thread then that would be much appreciated, thanks.

It'd be pretty hard to get it to cool off without shattering I would think

No but there are plenty of glassblowers on here and I'm drunk so I don't feel like using Google and getting mixed results.

Even if I let it cool off without doing some dumb shit like pouring water on it?
Edit: Or would room temperature even be too cold for it to not shatter.

depends on what you mean. if you just want to connect a bunch of bottles (i'm pretty interested to picture what you mean by that btw) then you might be able to do it with a map gas torch.
at first i was picturing just melting a big glob of glass and shaping it with pliers which would to a big furnace and LOTS of practice... like this kind of work

I think with as thin as the glass would be there is a risk of it shattering even in room temp. But I could be wrong, I'm still having a hard time fully understanding how you exactly plan on doing this. I think it's a pretty cool idea though.

the key to glass work is not allowing temperature to change to rapidly and evenly. glass tends to hold temperature fine while its cooling, the main problem with connecting glass at room temp is different thicknesses. if a thin piece is connect to a thicker piece then the thick one will stay hot and heat up the thin part its connected to unevenly causing it to crack.

Nah I'm not talking about melting a pile down and shaping it up. Just taking bottles like this for example and torching a hole through the side of it and sliding another bottle through that hole and waiting for it to cool. Except doing this with a ton of handles and fifth bottles as well.
Would this work?

Edit: I see what you mean Sur, fack that would pose a problem.

i don't really get it maybe. seems like it would be off balance even if you got it to connect with no issues.
melting 2 bottles together would create small area that is twice as thick as the rest of the bottles, so i would bet it would not work at all in room temp.
you might look into to drilling them instead, if you run water over glass while drilling it should stop it from cracking.

Yeah that seems like a better idea, what would I need diamond tipped drill bits for that?

google/youtube drilling glass bottles. diamond bits are not as expensive as you might think. but i kind of doubt you will need diamonds to cut glass.

titanium tips drill through concrete, i'm sure they can cut through glass.

I'll hit up Home Depot tomorrow and see what drill bits would work best for this then.
Thanks again. Will update my progress if I actually get this to work.

I mean a vice would be smart but I don't see why I would necessarily need one unless I was being completely retarded.
