Shiitake growing in basement

Hi!
I have some questions about growing shiitake mushrooms. I have this basement, under our house, where i think i can fruit them. The temperature is around 15 C, which i think is good. The floor is just sand. If i cover it with perlite, to increase humidity, it will be good? I dont want to get contamination from the floor, and i dont want to make a concrete floor. I can make the colonization in the house, but between the flushes its important to bring them back to a warmer temperature? Or if i leave them in the basement is good too? Becouse i dont want to bring them back to the house, where we live, and cant make enough humidity for them. I have some more questions, but these are the important ones.

You'll already have enough humidity in the basement after you spray the substrates. It sounds like a real mess unless you pour concrete.
Fresh air circulation is going to be the problem. Hopefully there's a window or two down there. RR

You don't have to pour concrete. I couldn't afford that and went with a fish safe pond liner. Been using the same one for 3 years now. Don't forget to dig a hole for drainage.

There is a tunnel or hole in the wall, which go outside, so i can exchange the air with a fan. I dont have too much money, and i dont want to change too many things in the basement. If i leave it like this, with sand floor, it will be muddy? With a concrete floor, i need to clean up the condensed water? Or there will not be any condensation? Because the walls are made of bricks, maybe it will control humidity? Or its enough to make some pathways, where i can walk, and under the shelves leave the sand, and it will soak the water? Contamination-wise the concrete floor is better, becouse i can clean it easier?
Thanks for your help.

Give it a try like it is now except add fresh air exchange. Make your racks for holding mushrooms portable so that you can remove and remodel later. Run a few batches and analyze, modify and try another few batches.
Looks like a pretty good mushroom cave to me!

Do not begin without having to make all necessary preparations for cultivation. From personal experience I speak. First, to coat the walls with a anti moisture mortar. Provide drainage for excess moisture on the floor. Provide good ventilation. Other things are easy. Mr. Roger is right. You will make a real mess, not to talk that smell will create after two months. Btw, I like your room. I think it will be great for growing mushrooms.

And what strain to use? Ive read, that the 75 strain is good for beginners, but as i see, its sold in the USA, and i dont know if they send it to europe. Or is there any good european sellers? I found this site, in belgium, any recommended strains from here http://www.mycelia.be/en/strain-collection/strain-list ? Or "noname" strains are good too? Becouse a year ago i had grown shiitake, from a spawn, which ive bought form a hungarian mushroom grower, who wrote some books, and doing this for 40 years. So maybe that strain will be good? It colonized fast, without contaminations, etc, but i dont had enough time to grow them well, but i had some mushrooms. And its enough, if i buy a spawn bag, and make more spawns out of it, or i need to make or buymother cultures, or sometimes i need to renew cultures?
