quick question
    #19085796 - 11/04/13 03:00 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Are there any non psilocybe, or, poisonous psilocybe that display these characteristics,

Pellicle
Blue bruising
Hollow stem
purple/brown spore print

and grow on a wooden substrate/wood chips?

Ik this is a "bare" question, but I've recently come across several different types of shrooms that display these qualities, growing maybe 20ft from a patch of cyans, and have no access to a camera atm... Idc about potency, so, exact type doesn't bother/matter to me, jw if these characteristics are shared, like I said above, by non psilocybe, or "poisonous" psilocybe (not even sure if there are any actually, noob here)

All mushrooms that have purple brown prints and bruise blue are active Psilocybes.

However sometimes deadly Galerina can have a bluish stem covered with white mycelium, so when you touch it the mycelium collapses and it looks like it is bruising blue.

Other times I have seen deadly Galerina sprayed with weed killer with green dye which makes them look like they are staining blue.

The pellicle thing is more for liberty cap ID, a lot of mushrooms have them.

The hollow stem does not matter much.

Pay close attention to the gill color and the way it changes in specimens of different stages of development.

Also stem color and texture is a good thing to pay attention to.

So, discounting the other features, a purple print would disqualify galerina, wouldn't it?

Absolutely.  As would purplish gills in mature dried specimens.
