Help I.D. Oklahoma
    #19085540 - 11/04/13 01:59 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Found growing in woods, from the ground, but possible decaying branches or trees underneath, lots of them nearby.
Gills:
Are brown and crowded.

Stem:
Brownish tan in color, fairly think, and solid.

Cap: Brown to tan cap, Broad Convex it appears to be.

Spore print color: No Spore print available.
Very important!

Bruising:
Bruising heavily purple after a few minutes of being handled and damaged.

Other information:
Feel as if it is some sort of gymnopilus sp. luteofolius if I had to pick my best guess. Knowingly Luteofolius bruising is thought to be temperature driven, and it was mid 60's when I found the mushroom. I read in colder weather it tends to bruise more purple. Please help I.D. these before I mistakenly eat them.

No it didn't. It's not bruising, and it's not blue. It's just purple.

Did not look like that until after it had been damaged.

Look at some pictures of blue bruising due to psilocin oxidation. It is never close to purple in colour. These Cortinarius species simply have this coloration, and they are 100% not psychoactive.
