Here is Peck's original description:

And ours more than rarely bruise. And they get somewhat large.

Peck's Gymnopilus luteofolius is 2 - 3 feet tall, 1 - 2 feet across and the stipe is 3 - 5 inches thick. I am not sure that I have seen that species...

If the KOH goes a very light olive green, that would put them in the A. subrutilescens group.
They certainly did turn olive green. Especially on parts that had bruised red/brown.

I was just reading something Blood wrote.
He said something about lutes never having green bruising on the cap.
These most certainly do.
But I dunno. I'm going to call them G. aeruginosus
I have a had time agreeing with this, luteofolius is active- it should bruise green. I think aeruginosus is red and green, a lot more green then luteofolius. luteofolius seems a lot more purple than aeruginosus. Just
well find out whats going on soon enough, im pulling out the big guns.
here goes...
G. luteofolius matures to yellow... they very rarely bruise blue...

notice the margin...
also...

notice the gill color, attachment and "veil."
G. luteofolius is a less robust species that MATURES TO YELLOW!!!

look to the right...

the specimens on the right are a day or 2 older than those on the left...
yes, there are microscopic differences between the two "species..." Hesler didn't find them because he was most likely comparing different collections of G. aeruginosus...
G. luteofolius is much more rare than it is believed to be... it is likely much more prominent in the southern states...
AWESOME THREAD GANZIG!!

I think this has changed everything for me.
Thanks Blood.
