Found some shrooms on the cricket pitch, can you help identify plz?
    #19084828 - 11/04/13 10:27 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

HI all,

New to this site but i have been reading some posts ofr quite a while now.

After reading a tip to search on cricket pitches i found these little shrooms all sheltered away behind a low fence sorrounding the playig area of the cricket picth.

Before i devour these tasty looking morsels i was hoping someone might put my mind to ease as to what they are and if they are potent or not?

Any help would be great.

I tried to divide them up going by there morphological traits, it seems there are 3 main types...

#1 Wet liberty caps
#2 Dry liberty caps
#3 Mycena species and possibly a second species? I can't get a good look at the gills.
I would still wait for a T.I to confirm the libs.

That last pic has some suspect specimens. Anything that's not greasy looking and bell shaped should be further researched before anything else happens. If those planed out, not stained mushrooms are fragile you should toss them. Could be conocybe.

hi guys,

on the last pic the gils are mainly a light grey colour.

the ones you identified as wet libs are now white and look like the ones in second picture.

Awesome news. I was worried i'd picked a load of crap up.

Do you think more will apear soon or would that be it now, end of season?

I found these this afternoon, somethings telling me i should check it out again early in the morning possibly.

Snip them with scissors or cut them with a knife to remove them. Semilanceata has slower growing mycelium. I would think they will fruit right up until you get solid freezing temps. Get out there and gettum! :manofapproval:

--------------------
Species List (Georgia): Psilocybe caerulescens/weilii, Psilocybe atlantis/galindoi, Psilocybe cubensis, Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata, Psilocybe caerulipes, Psilocybe semilanceata, Psilocybe fagicola, Copelandia cyanescens, Panaeolus cinctulus, Panaeolus fimicola, Panaeolus olivaceus, Gymnopilus luteofolius, Gymnopilus aeruginosus, Gymnopilus junonius, Pluteus salicinus

(Ohio): Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata, Psilocybe caerulipes, Pluteus cyanopus, Pluteus salicinus sensu lato..., Panaeolus cinctulus, Gymnopilus luteus, Gymnopilus luteofolius, Gymnopilus junonius, Gymnopilus aeruginosus

I would just pull them up, semilanceata is not like a woodlover where you are taking lots of colonized substrate with you when you pick it.

I'd double check the top left mushroom of the first picture, It seems a little off, and could be some type of Mycena or something. Check the color of the gills maybe.

in the first 2 all teh gills are dark, black even.

The 3 rd is just grey,

The first two have been left in the airing cupbopard all afternoon and now have a gold leaf effect.

I remember seeing something very similar when drying Thai Pink Buffalo.

Cheers i have been made to feel very welcome, the response on this forum is fantastic.

I just clicked on the growery by mistake... interesting. I usually reside on a well known UK grow site associated with 420.

I was wondering if the growery being there meant the servers for this forum are in holand?

Yeah those first ones are more chestnutty grey, because they had not yet "hygrophanated" to a pale buff.

Still calling out that third photo. There are only a couple of specimens in that photo that MIGHT be psilocybe. And if any are conocybe there is a real risk of poisoning. Most appear to be mycena.

I mean yeah its more discreet and a hell of a lot easier to just pull 'em out, but if its not risking attention, why not snip them? Is there a possibility that the stem butt will rot (as with cultivated mushrooms)?

No need to snip them.  It is better to plant the stem butts in your yard.
