speaking of typing; are your fingers doing that thing where they look and feel like they're sort of 'tentacling' down great distances towards the keys you're trying to press like they're looking for them on their own?

Yesterday was bountiful and beautiful.
Anyone know what this Agaricus is?
Sorry for the crap pictures.
They bruised a reddish brown and as you can see had red droplets on the gills.
All specimens that I looked at had this red droplet thing going on.

For Agaricus, you really need to put a bit of KOH on them.
If the KOH goes a very light olive green, that would put them in the A. subrutilescens group.

Anyone here ever eat Clitocybe connata?
Never mind that. If you do, stop. It has a gene mutating molecule.
No good.

Hmmmmmm. Depends on the time of year.
I have them regularly.
I ate about 1/2 lbs of chants today already. And a few candy cap cookies.
If I have inky caps Ill eat them all. I can't seem to help myself.

Craziness. Honestly mushrooms don't even really appeal that much to me. Yes I'll eat good edibles if I find them but I never really crave them or miss eating them. Definitely not on my list of favorite foods.

You certainly do not have to enjoy eating them to love them.
They are special.

I was just reading something Blood wrote.
He said something about lutes never having green bruising on the cap.
These most certainly do.
But I dunno. I'm going to call them G. aeruginosus
I have a had time agreeing with this, luteofolius is active- it should bruise green. I think aeruginosus is red and green, a lot more green then luteofolius. luteofolius seems a lot more purple than aeruginosus. Just
well find out whats going on soon enough, im pulling out the big guns.
here goes...
G. luteofolius matures to yellow... they very rarely bruise blue...

notice the margin...
also...

notice the gill color, attachment and "veil."
G. luteofolius is a less robust species that MATURES TO YELLOW!!!

look to the right...

the specimens on the right are a day or 2 older than those on the left...
yes, there are microscopic differences between the two "species..." Hesler didn't find them because he was most likely comparing different collections of G. aeruginosus...
G. luteofolius is much more rare than it is believed to be... it is likely much more prominent in the southern states...
AWESOME THREAD GANZIG!!

Also Gymnopilus luteofolius was described from birch in New York, I am not sure if the conifer west coast species are the same.

what color does G. aeruginosus mature to.. I am also looking at the dried material. The black fibrils present on the pileus are quite dark, spotted and are interesting for dried specimens, looks like mold. ill post up pics later.
