Purple gilled mushroom ID

Habitat: Grew beside a stony path near grass. This specimen was part of a clump of mushrooms.
Gills: Purple.
Stem: Incredibly thick stem and quite a weighty mushroom altogether.
Cap: Approx 2.5 inches in diameter
Spore print color: Purple or rusty brown. The specimen was dry - I think this was why no clear spore print was obtained. Spore print was taken on white paper.
Bruising: No discernible bruising to a different colour.
Other notes: The specimen was quite dirty as you can see in the first pic.

Where on earth are you? Deciduous or conifer forest?
Try to collect specimens of various age and size, and slice a fully grown one lengthwise in twain.

In the UK. A deciduous forest nearby.
I will do and will report back.
Thanks for the replies.

Yeah; let's just put a nice 'no' on that one.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
