I was out walking around and found these, the look like some kind of bolete, but they aren't shaped like ones I've seen before. I hope they are edible. lol. They smell good.
Habitat: Rocky soil, open field under a small evergreen
Gills: Pores, Light golden yellow to brown/dark brown I can't decide if they are considered attached or free
Stem: Whitish to light yellow, stubby (about 1-1 1/4 inches long) irregular shape and enlarged at base, about 1/2 inch wide and firm
Cap: light beige to dark brown 3-5 inches across, irregular shape with uneven surface, some specimens had splitting around the edges.
Spore Print: none yet
Bruising: no color change was observed
General location: eastern washington

Its a Suillus species, though I'm not sure which. Are there any fresher specimens to be found?
Also the specific type of tree nearby would help greatly with a solid ID.

Well, these are about as good as there was, but I'll keep an eye out. the location is close to me and I've seen these guys before. I doubt I'll see more now though, it's been starting to freeze. I'm pretty sure the tree was a small shore pine if it matters. Thanks for trying to help.

General stature, and the fibrils on the cap remind me a lot of Suillus volcanalis, but they are associated with Jeffrey pines.
Compare with Suillus brevipes perhaps. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Well, I'm not sure about the pine tree. I'll try and get a positive species soon if I have time. But I'm really no better at ID'ing trees than I am mushrooms. lol I'm sorry, I'm not much help. I really appreciate the input. Any chance these could be edible? I've heard it's pretty simple to rule out poisonous bolete's from edible ones. I did taste these, just a lick of one I tore open. Not bitter at all. My wife says "just eat them" lol.

There are no toxic members in this genus. That does not mean they all taste good though.
As with any new mushroom, only eat a bit at first to be sure they agree with you.
Edit: Its also a good idea to remove the pores from them before consumption.

Why is this so? Does this go for other pore bearing mushrooms also? I recently ate some birch bolete but did not remove the pores. It was a bit soggy/slimey but pallatible.

This is the major factor. But also they can act as a laxative in some species. Better safe than shitty.
Edit: This includes the slimy cuticle layer as well.

Well, I ate one. No ill effects, but a little bland though.

I did, but it was so squishy the texture put me off. I seem to remember you saying that when fried near crispy its not so bad?

Yea, but even then the texture is a bit squishy which I don't mind.
