Official Pagans Thread
    #19082665 - 11/03/13 09:04 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Hey, fellows.

I'd like to dedicate this thread to fellow Pagans and the discussion of Paganism and NeoPaganism including its many branches, it's history, future and present. I'd also like to discuss your personal philosophies from polytheism, shamanism, pantheism, animism and your personal beliefs, traditions, celebrations, deities and lifestyle. Only mature posters welcome.

Of course there's a smart ass in every group. ;P

Oh and be sure to answer the poll! I've made it so that the answers to the second question can all be answered or just one or two or three, whatever you choose.
Are You Pagan?
You may choose only one
What Is Your Philosophy?
You may choose only one

I messed up and had to go back and when I did I forgot I add the multiple answer thin to the second question so if you want to choose more than one then just select other and tell us what you chose.

I chose other for pantheism, animism and shamanism.

Pagan and polytheist. My meditations are pantheist. I could not get into any spiritual practice for many years. Nothing really captivated my interest. Odinism is my main enthusiasm. Now I'm learning devotional prayers, these are fun and bring the occasional sense of connection.

I understand what you're saying and there is nothing wrong with eclectic Pagans unless there is a contradiction in creed or something OR if they're just selecting the label Pagan blah blah just so that they can form their own religion to adhere to which is kinda stupid to me.

Not sure what the official label would be, but I believe in a Hunab Ku like interpretation of "God". And we are all just subunits of this greater whole, like cells in a body.
Incidentally, I was a devout atheist until my first and very profound experience with mushrooms.

Agnostics just can't decide what to believe and atheism is just an excuse to not think about spiritual shit in most cases however not all. I considered myself atheist until I realized what pantheism is and that is part of what I really believed and then I read about paganism and it all matches up with the exception of polytheism although I'm interested in it. Don't think it's for me though.

And Celldude, that sounds a lot like pantheism. Check it out!

Any time, man. My LSD trips is what gave me insight into pantheism being reality and many LSD trips later after have confirmed that foundational belief along with my animism and shamanism beliefs. Although shamanism has been the least confirmed in my trips, I've always had the sense that if I had the skills necessary that shamanism is an trainable feat. Especially with all anthropological evidence in animism and shamanism.

I marked pantheism but I guess I would fall more under shamanistic pantheist if there is such a thing

I think spirituality is a very important part of the human experience and I feel that most of the mainstream religions rob people of their true spiritual nature. I grew up Christian and didn't even know what spirituality was until I finally broke free of the christian shackles in my late 20s

Pan= All. En= in. The= God.

All in God.

En just means in. All Pagans have been known to use entheogens. I don't think there is one Pagan culture that hasn't or doesn't...

I cannot really define my spirituality ha.
I believe in so many different things, i def believe in spirits, evil and good, and idk alot of other things. i cant really explain it, spirit animals, i use a pendulum to communicate with the dead, spirit guides, past incarnations, all that stuff. rituals for good luck, fortune, im a fixed scorpio as well.

sorry i couldnt be clearer, anyone wants my to elaborate i will. thanks !

You're obviously misinformed on the topic. Paganism is an umbrella term for religions AND/OR religious type based beliefs that are not based on Abraham religions such as Christianity. Pagans are more accepting of its branches of various religions than that of your Abraham religions which try to belittle each other and point fingers and say the other is wrong. Yes, pagans have contradictory beliefs but we don't typically argue about it and say I'm right and you're wrong like your Abraham religions. That said, the eclectic pagans don't really contradict themselves. Polytheistic pantheists are a contradiction but that's another story, you rarely hear of a polytheist pantheist. Anywho, your sarcastic ass childish bull shit comments aren't welcome.

Do some research. Above the ignorance, duh.

...wow Sorry man....was just linking some words nicely together in close realisation of what i really think about myself and my thoughts personally........as im on a forum that welcomes the more random and odd of thoughts/conceptions etc i didnt expect to get a backlash off someone that to me looks like your more focused on what you want to escape more then what you want to learn....

your quote
" Pagans are more accepting of its branches of various religions than that of your Abraham religions which try to belittle each other and point fingers and say the other is wrong"

to me it sounds like your presuming about me and relating it to yourself man. I said nothing even remotely where i likened anything to abraham or any other symbols people choose that makes it easier for them to realise a slight sense of the  extraordinary other then the strangeness of the place we do all live in!!!

by polypant, what i ment,..is i believe there could be many forms of different gods to people around the world..this is a given..i was thinking that i sometimes ponder if all these religions/followings/idea's dont all just manifest themselves basically in the same way but in different forms due to cultural tendancies!!!!!... therefore making them the same... i think all these stories or fabels and morals are basically the same message instinctively programmed into our mind/psyche etc but being broadcast with the same intention to a different audience!!!

some people love shiva..some love jesus, buddha, and allah, odin or the Dagda etc.....many more could be added.. at the end of the day the most crucial parts in any of the texts that you can read and ponder are the most basic...dont rob shit...dont kill someone..be nice to your neighbors and community etc....

then theres a huge gap to fill up the space through living to what you see as being good or not...

Sorry man didnt mean to rant too much but think you might have picked me up the wrong way!!!!

I did and I apologize, I had that guy give two sarcastic remarks in the last page and I felt like if I didn't stop it then it'd become a trend. I also expected some random crock pot screaming hear say so ive been eager to defend this thread for that reason. lol. Again, I apologize.

haha no probems man, totally understand...
have similar moods meself!!!

like that though.... dont be too eager to defend something as simple as this thread in such an emotional way so quickly!!!!....unless your a bazzerka warrior!!!!...otherwise there seems no need to be so harsh so quick haha.... Im not getting at ya either dude

I know what i like and think, .......and i think i know what other people like to think they think but they think and think they like...(or at least i like to think that i have an eye for certain things!!! )...think to much??(retorical question!!!!)

if people were allowed to accept what we call the psychedelic experience into they're yearly calander the same as any holiday then i reckon we'd live in a different world. Seasons have different draws for me persaonally..this season we'll go to a few different stone circles and throw our personal beliefs at it!!!! and feel ecstatic and reborn and alive on the land........for the 21st of dec were going to go to Slieve na Calliagh..but then again thats the more shamanistic side of me talking haha... i truly feel more energy in my trips in places like this...

I dont know if its the fact that i know these places were built for and used for tracking cosmic alignments or the fact that i know thousands of years ago people(so called primitive) used to congregate here for fire sessions and do what ever they did.... theres one place called drombeg that i had my strongest trip on mushrooms....surpassed many dmt trips....this place was alive and speaking to me.....Nature knows Best!!!

I truly love this place..........sorry for spamming the thread with these pics but...ive experienced all in this circle....light/dark...sarcastic/benevolent...happy/sad...you name it hehe....cures all man...for me anyhow hehe!!!

when you really get down to it,
its not about what we really call ourselves, is it?
its our actions that define who we are to others, and i believe it is out duty fulfill the goals set forth by our eternal soul.
The body is just a vessel, if you will, to carry our ssouls on our eternal journey.
I believe every soul has a purpose, and regardless of religion and/or beliefs, we, as manifestations of our soul, need to make a difference, an impact..
we need to fulfill our soul's destiny.

But to each their own, thats just my thoughts.

sure, conversation with like minded people generally yields good advice/output.
and its surprisingly mentally stimulating, haha.

I don't know if its exactly pagan or not but I enjoy attending the gnostic mass my local OTO puts on, nude woman on the alter and all. Its the only sort of religious group where I actually can be myself without being a phoney asshat. Pagans are the best imo, but the thelemites are really all there is around here other than the wiccans, and i don't like them because its just fluff bunnies instead of hardcore or real traditional witchcraft.

I'd really like to go to a thelemite gathering.  Some of Crowley's work is really useful and applicable in everyday life.  I enjoy "magick" like that.  Not technically pagan but worth a gander.

If you're in the USA you might have a local group, they all have websites with a calendar that show when they have public events. That was actually how I found them. And then I just showed up. Honestly I would like to join their club just for the social activity and fraternity, but am not that interested in the religious/magickal part. I keep hoping this red headed girl will be the priestess next time, I'd really like to see her naked. :sun:

Hell yeah, I figured you would! OMNIA is by far my favorite and I haven't seen one like it ever. Like I said, there are other good ones though but there is somethin special about OMNIA!

An I don't know, man. My question was something about how some people feel about after life and their beliefs, I don't know, I'll remember it in a day or so most likely, haha.

yeah i've looked at that site.  None close enough for me to get to right now.  Someday!  What is not to like about the religious part?  Crowley's thaumaturgical and OTO writings have really helped me to realize the flaws in my personality, and generally how to make myself happier and healthier both mentally and physically.

Amen to that! She's fucking perfect in everyway! They have pics of her half naked on their site. The lead singer is her husband. He's a little weird but still he's awesome at the same time, haha.

What about a syncretism?

I am an apostate to the Jews, and a heretic to many Christians. I recognize the (Pagan) Egyptian Coffin and Pyramid text origins of many of the New Testament stories, and the arrangement of gospel narratives as being public relations literature for the faith, as well as conforming exactly to the Jewish liturgical calendar. Yet the most popular of the four canonical gospels, John, is heavily Hellenistic mythology - totally Pagan. Greek mythology is rife with human virginal females conceiving a half-human demigod from a god. Jesus fits right in to this scheme. I am not a polytheist, but I am not a straight-up Monotheist, according to most theological definitions. Perhaps I am a Monopanentheist - a term of my own construction that draws on Monotheism, Monism, and Panentheism (but strictly speaking, not Pantheism).

No. My home is sort of my sanctuary in a spiritual sense. Different rooms have different spiritual personalities. The front of the house sports Pagan Greenmen, the back yard has Buddhas. The living room is a syncretism of Jewish-Pagan-Catholic-Orthodox imagery. It is all fairly well integrated aesthetically, as it is all fairly well integrated psychologically. There are some pics in my gallery.
