orange in brf jars... mold or metabolite?

I know there have been threads about this before but I had a hard time finding a definitive answer... but one of my cakes has just about finished colonizing and I noticed a small orange speck on the bottom. I know this could be a metabolite, but could probably also be mold? anyone have any insight on this... doesn't look terrifying to be honest, very small and rust orange colored, but I don't want it fucking up the rest of my stuff so I'm leaning towards throwing it away anyways...
thoughts/advice much appreciated. thanks.

If it's just an orange speck it could metabolites. Post a pic or something.

will work on pics. yes, quite literally a speck, would compare it to my fingernail or something but it is wayyy smaller. doesn't seem to have grown since I noticed it, which I imagine is a good sign? I just would hate to open the jar and not be 100% sure its not contaminated...

That doesn't sound like mold. Mold will look dry, like sand. RR

although I don't exactly know what you mean-never having seen mold, haha- it is also right at the edge of the jar on the bottom, if that makes sense, so it's really hard to get a good look

Yeah I've seen pretty much the exact same thing mutiple times, it's metabolites. The cake should be fine.

Your good! I see this happen with pints and think it has to do with myc having to work harder to colonize the compact sub but that's just theory

one last check before I open the jar and expose whatever it is to open air... anyone else want to weigh in? it still hasn't grown or anything. just don't want to fuck up all the other jars/future projects
