How do you buy your music?
#19081600 - 11/03/13 05:41 PM (10 years, 2 months ago) |

There has to be a better way than paying $1.29 per song on iTunes. I've already spent 1000s on there.. and I want 1000s more songs
My brother uses spotify and gets unlimited music for $10 per month. It's okay but I want to own the music not rent it, and they lack a lot of good bands.
I don't like illegally downloading music
How do you people legitimately purchase your music?

I usually get music from the bands website if I am going to support them. Most of the music I get is torrented, but when I really like a band, especially a smaller one, I will buy the music from their website. Don't think I have ever purchased a song from itunes.

Youtube 2 Mp3 converter was the site I used before I switched to this shitty ass dialup Internet & everything was free.
I used an app on my iPod a free music downloaded thing & I went to a site called mp3skull and downloaded from there.
I haven't downloaded new music off the Internet in over 6 months

So nobody pays for all of their music?
I'm afraid of illegally downloading stuff and torrents in general.

You should get into rap music. Literally there are hundreds of free rap mixtapes released on a daily basis.

I usually just go for the hipster way and buy the CD/vinyl if I can. Otherwise, I'll just use torrents or get it off of youtube.
I've never really understood why file sharing is so looked down upon. I'd be willing to wager that these RIAA people taped songs off the radio without a second thought, in their day

Target had some Fleetwood mac CDs in the $5 section the other day so I bought some of their albums. But usually buying a CD is pretty much the same price as buying the album on iTunes...

If it's an independent or underground artist, I buy their CDs. Otherwise, I torrent. If you're smart about it (which is easy to be), you won't find any trouble.

I download 99.9% of my music off what.cd or torrentech.org. If I fancy the album, I'll buy it off the label's website. I like to buy ambient albums for some reason; maybe it's because I can feel the power through the physical album. I like reading the insert and seeing the cover art and stuff. Amazon has SUPER cheap albums on there for older stuff. I would never pay for an mp3.

Yeah for sure, I have no problem buying vinyl but when it comes to mp3's you gotta be kidding me, I literally get nothing. Not even a shitty little plastic case with a shitty little insert like CD's used to have. Vinyl you got this huge fuckin record, these huge pictures on either side maybe a fuckin' poster and some stickers, booklets maybe, I don't know sometimes they throw shit in there but it just feels like you spent your money on something kinda worth it. You get a CD and what, you lose or it whatever cause you don't give a fuck. I imagine the buyer's regret to be even worse with mp3's but I've never bought one in my life. Yeah right. The fact alone that most people get exactly what I get for free when I pay for it like a sucker out of the goodness of my heart would make me wanna puke fuck that.

I mean, all of the albums I have on vinyl I also have on my computer because I've downloaded them. But they are albums I like enough to pay for and want to have. Vinyl is a good way for people who are into music and want the collector aspect to go with.

The only time I pay for music is through voluntary financial support of rave organizers.
