Ganja free for 2 weeks.

So it's been 2 weeks since I've smoked ganja, had to take a break due to some bullshit. I have to say it's a lot easier than I thought, I barely find myself thinking about it. Just kills me when I get a big whiff of some stanky. The other day I was in line at a store and the guy in front of me was just reaking of weed, made me a little pissed but oh well. After smoking for 14 years or so I guess it's good to take a little time to clean up and get my head straight. Hopefully I will be able to smoke again in like 10 weeks but I really can't say for sure, depends on what the courts want to do. I've had a craving to trip lately, maybe eat some cubes or l soon. Never tripped without ganja before, wonder how it would be. Thought I'd list some of the pros and cons of not smoking that I've noticed so far.
Pros: Save money My dream recall is coming back More clarity in my thoughts Not paranoid all the time
Cons: My appetite is diminished big time A little irritable but too bad Not sleeping well Back has been killing me (herniated discs) Smoking about twice as many cigarettes
I'm sure there is more stuff I haven't listed or noticed but that's it off the top of my head. Not being paranoid is great, before I'd freak out if I saw a cop in front of my house, even if I only had a slice of weed. Now I'm just like fuck the police even with a big bag in my dresser. Makes me realize the paranoia is uncalled for. I was thinking about giving kratom a try, just for a little head change at night but I think I'll do more research before checking it out. I've heard people develop a dependency to it pretty easy. Anyone else currently taking a break from ganja? Any tips on keeping busy and weed free would be helpful.
Thanks guys.

I haven't smoked for about four months now.
That's because I moved out of a big city to the country side and there's no way I can get any around here.
Life hasn't changed much for me but I miss taking the divine medicine.
It just makes my life a lot easier, less painful and less stressful.
I haven't really replaced my old habit with anything apart from some mushroom tea from time to time.

Well it's been over a month now and I'm still feeling pretty good. The last week or so the cravings have been pretty bad, I find it helps to go take a big whiff of stanky weed and think about how stoned I'll get when I'm able to smoke again. Another thing that sucks is all my friends smoke, it's tough to chill when everybody is getting stoned. Just about my whole family smokes as well, so at family functions everybody goes out to burn and I just kind of feel left out. All good though, ganja has been around for thousands of years and isn't going anywhere. Just a good opportunity to stock up on killer bud when it's around and lower my tolerance.

Last time I quit weed, my alcohol use became very unhealthy. I then reversed the equation and have been doing much better since.

Yea I've been drinking more than I used to. Usually I would drink like once a month, maybe even once every 2 months. Lately since I had to quit I've been drinking about twice a week. I haven't been getting shitfaced or anything, just like 3-4 beers, twice a week. Still that's too much for me.
Smoking like a pack of cigarettes a day, where a pack used to last me 2-3 days. Once I can burn again I'm quitting tobacco, I can feel it starting to wear on me. When I smoked ganja I would cough up any phlegm after taking a nice rip but now it feels like all this crap is just building up.

I was off weed for a week until last night, when I vaped up a pinch of shake and got annihilated. It was actually a bit unpleasant.
I've been a chronic toker for decades, and the only time I ever really take a break is if I go overseas where it's frowned upon.
I'm going for a month now, starting today. I've been getting a lot more done, although I feel mildly uncomfortable all the time, almost like I'm constantly on a shroom come-up.
I don't drink or do any other drugs (except mushrooms once or twice a year), so when I quit, I go full sober.

I took a little over a week break about a month ago and it was really easy. I was just a little irritable for a few days. Then H'ween came around and I had to smoke and my break got ruined

I haven't taken a break from ganja in a solid 2 years. On average, I still smoke 1-2 times a day but I feel like I operate on a different wavelength than your average man so I'm still able to get things done.
Congratulations you guys though on quitting. Even thought it's not physically addictive, it's still hard to completely give up.

I'm taking a break right now as well.
I find I'm drinking more, smoking way more cigs, and have had the shits.
I just want my tolerance to go down.
I am dreaming again though which is nice, and I'm more motivated.
Plus one of the last times I smoked, I think I had a glimpse of schizophrenia, a 2nd occurrence of my own voice started arguing with me in my head. And I couldnt get rid of it, and it taunted me.
It was kind of interesting at first, the novelty of it. But was scary when I couldnt get it to stop.

Wow, you've got the shits too!? I was actually thinking about making a thread about this... thank god it came up in here, lol.
Normally, I only quit when I go to Asia, and I always thought it was the food or water that was the culprit.
Is this a common problem when one is laying off the reefer?

I've stopped and then restarted weed several times. And it is almost always accompanied by the shits.
I believe it has to due with the stomach calming effects of cannabis, when used too often, your digestive system becomes somewhat dependent on the calming effect, and when marijuana is stopped, your bowels kick into high gear until it can come back to a balanced state.
I have also been reading about SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and chronic marijuana use. It appears that chronic marijuana use can slow the digestive system down, and allow bacteria in the small intenstive to build up past normal levels. And when the drug that causes this(MJ) is stopped, your body attempts to purge the excess bacteria.
Two slightly differing views, neither has been proven, both make sense, and both are possible depending on the person.
But I do know for sure, whenever I go from chronic use, to cessation, I get the shits.
I do however find that, for myself, taking probiotics provides better relief than pepto. Anti-diarehhea meds like Lopermide help, but when they are stopped, the problem comes back even worse.

Mind and body feels best without adding anything, without drugs :-)
It is only possible to be yourself without drugs
I got lots of back pain too.... not fun.. used to smoke weed for it often so bad I cant even lay down due to it
But the mind is most important than treating pain IMO, was already sick anyway
Meditation helps me and nature , no thoughts no problems
It can take many months for head to feel normal after long time daily smoking.. so quitting early is a good idea, had cough for many months too, dont miss it :-)
peace

yeah it sucks the weed is so illegal and shitty in Asia. As shitty as it is, I don't even hardly see the point in making it illegal.

I've been able to find some ok nugs in Cambodia, but that's the only country that's laid back enough about it for me to feel comfortable trying to score. There is no weed in the world that's good enough for me to risk seeing the inside of the monkey house. I've been in Immigration Detention in Thailand once, and that was bad enough, thank you very much.
By the way, that was good info about the SIBO. I would never have imagined that cannabis would have that kind of effect. Normally I am as regular as clockwork. Excuse my ignorance, but by probiotics, do you mean that special yoghurt with the upside down Economic Action Plan arrows on the label?
edit: oh, sorry, I thought you were canadian... you probably won't get the EAP reference.

What I smoked in Thailand and Laos was TERRIBLE. Didn't really seek it out, it was just around with some folks I met and was chilling with. Decided it wasn't worth the risk of carrying it though, so I flushed it both times.

I never remember my dreams whether I'm smoking or not at the time, but as soon as I stop smoking, I have very clear dreams and remember them for a few days. Anyone know why this might be?

I've read too much about weed dealers working with police to shake down smokers in Thailand to risk it. I've been around people who've brought out their pot and started smoking, and that's my cue to get up outta there. Even if they don't jail me, I'd likely be paying off some sleazy Thai cop, or even worse, getting a Do Not Return stamp in my passport.
