Ghost hunting as a business

I personally do not believe in anything supernatural, I think it is silly and very unlikely.
I do, however, think that the idea of 'ghost hunting' is probably a pretty good business. People are totally fascinated with the idea of the unknown. If you live in a decently sized city, I would imagine that it'd be a good little side business to have. Set aside some money for the equipment so that you look official, get a couple of buddies in on it, maybe make some T-Shirts to look official and bam, your a paranormal investigator. Put up some posters around town and maybe a couple craigslist ads and I'm sure you could be booked up for private investigations every weekend. Charge a few hundred per investigation and you have a nice little business going.
What do you guys think? Thoughts?

You really think you'd have work every weekend?
I thought that shit was mostly just TV gimmick.
I would do it if I knew there was money in it, it'd be fun pretending to be serious about it. I don't think I could pretend to communicate with someone's dead family member or anything like that though.

Maybe not every weekend, but I certainly think you could get a couple of serious customers per month.

One of my GF's ex best friends fathers made a business out of it. Supposedly he has a bunch of supernatural creepy shit around his house. Its his main source of income.

This is morally questionable, it would be exploitation of the naive. You know they're wrong, so why further if not encourage their disbelief while stealing from them all the while?
It just aint right.

Easy money and you get to hang out in creepy old houses plus it'll give you a lot of stories to tell your buddies later on.

Yeah but there are plenty of superstitious people who also happen to be very nice and innocent, it would be akin to taking candy from a child. Just wrong.

I think a better analogy would be like taking candy from children in exchange for telling them a story. If little Billy wants to hear a story so bad that he'll give me his Reeses cups, I'm eatin them hoes and tellin a story.

Look at the "original" ghost hunters series from scifi channel. Started out really small and got incredibly huge. So much so I imagine it's why I don't see them on tv anymore. Either overshadowed by other lookalikes or made their money and got out while the getting was good. Either way yes you can make a lot of money if you pretend to know what you're doing. Getting EMF detectors, dousing rods, and voice recorders can fool anyone. Take so many photos and recordings that there is bound to be an anomaly. Then present that to the homeowner and claim that you've attempted to help excise the entity and that everything should be smooth sailing from now on. Bam, green. Get the money, dollar dollar bill yall. People are gullible as fuck.
