Enough Light for Fruiting?

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to know your opinion on this spot for fruiting. Only natural light comes into the room from two adjacent windows at the back of the house, so direct sunlight never comes in through either window. It's the darkest room in the house, but you can easily read a book or even paint in this lighting, so I wanted to know if just to the right of this book shelf would serve as a decent spot capable of fruiting?

There is no doubt that this is the coldest room in the house. The room itself will probably fluctuate between 64-74 from now into December. Chances of a drop to as low as 59 at the wee morning hours is definitely possible. I have a heat pad that I can use and layer with towels to regulate temperatures from the bottom of the grow chamber.
Will the nightly drops in temperature slow or prevent fruiting?

I had fruits with those temps, beter to keep it up to 74. Shrooms probably grow slower with lower temps. I dont know if you get less fruits with lower temps.
Get rid of the heatin pad, the only thing it does is drying your substrate.

Bah, stupid heating pads. Thank you for the heads up, I will be sure not to go that route.
Any tips on best methods for heating to keep that 74 sweet spot consistent? It's definitely going to need it when the sun goes down every night. During the day it is about 72-74, but night will always bring the drop.

I read a quote from RR that says night time temp drops mimic nature and are good or something like that

Those temps will be fine, I grow in similar conditions. Your fruits may grow a little slower and will be slightly smaller, but denser. You will probably rarely see hollow fruits I personally dislike hollow fruits.
If you do your spawn run for you up coming tubs in the same room that you fruit in, expect the temp to rise anyway, colonizing subs generate a lot of heat.

Ideally you want 12/12 of strong (not direct) sunlight, so if you live in Alaska or Wisconsin (or other northern states), it wouldn't be ideal. Why not just run a 13w or 18w 6500k CFL bulb or two? Then you'll have the reassurance of proper lighting.

Wisconsin? How does that compare to Alaska lighting?

Ideally the light should be direct and intense for fruiting.
I have no idea where you got your info.

Sorry I meant not direct sunlight! My bad.

Both of them get less than 12 hours of light in the fall and winter. They're just examples.

Here's one source (RR's page) "12 hours on, 12 hours off has proved to be a great combination over a wide range of species. Of course, if you have a bright window near your terrarium, that will suffice, but direct sunlight for more than a few minutes per day should be avoided."
Hacker you never want direct sunlight in a terrarium, or a light fixture touching it's surface. It can change the temperature drastically. If you read the OP's post, the light we're referring to is sunlight, that's why I said "(not direct)".

A bit of direct sunlight each day is fine and will improve pinning performance. To the OP, you won't get good performance in that room without a supplemental light fixture. You should also put a space heater in there to get the temp up to where you'll be comfortable in a t-shirt. RR

Thanks guys.
I went out today and grabbed a 13w 5000K. 5000k was the coolest I could find. Put 'em on a 12/12 cycle and temps without heating are currently 72-79.
Should be good to go.
Thanks again.
