found these on the outskirts of some wood chips... i had a TI say they were thinking Pleurotus eryngii, but they were not 100% because of the lack of picture from me...so i got some more pics today in hopes i could get a positive ID

heres the suspect with an accomplice named gymn
this i believe to be Lactarius rufus....could be wrong. they were found under thick pine needles. also wondering about the edibility...

 thanks for the help

#1 Looks like an Edible Pleurotus to me!
#2 Is definitely a Lactarius, though I dont think it is L.rufus. That species is a dark brick red

#1 definitely isn't Pleurotus eryngii IMO. The habitat, appearance, constitution, nothing really fits. Probably is a Pleurotus tough, just a bit funky looking.

That is an oyster, Pleurotus ostreatus or a close species. Differences in appearance are caused by the unusual habitat (woodchips instead of logs).

95% chance I'd say. They always end up looking like that when growing from the ground. Seen a lot of them in the compost pile where I used to dump spent substrates.

Look at Hohenbuehelia petaloides Seem like it might be it. Typical for that to grow on wood chips.
