I am thinking lactarius sp. because of the milk and large cap. Just a guess though. Gills don't look right and no concentric rings that I can see, that I usually associate with lactarius sp.

Where would the concentric ring be located at.The smaller ones had what looked like a ring folded under the cap and as it matured the fold/ring eventually formed the edge of the decurrent shape

On the cap....lactarius caps usually grow in rings ..so when you look down on them you see these rings going around the cap

What color was the lactation?

It's called latex

I was just about to comment that I didn't see any latex nor do I agree with Lactarius.  I also don't know what this is

I know RD...but thank you. I was referring to the verb form not the noun...as in "to lactate". Just waking up here...lol. So ANYWAY, OP said " With an almost translucent print I did noticed some milk on the small fresh ones" I am assuming because OP said "milk" that it was white. And the lack of latex is consistent with the dry weather. Most of the lactarius I have been finding haven't bled unless they were VERY new and fresh. And as I said the gills don't look right for lactarius...more agaricus looking to me. Any bruising OP? And I am reading the translucent print as maybe a light cream color perhaps....Or just a lot of assuming on my part:crazy2:
