Prints / clones from different flushes...?

Just a quickie...
I was wondering if it makes any difference taking a print from (for example) a monos first flush or it's 3rd flush
Now the reason I ask is the fruits on the 3rd flush are generally going to be bigger (less quantity of fruits I guess) so it's easy to think "hey - big fruits, big prints, good genes!" but essentially a mushroom grown on the 3rd flush with identical genetics (talking hypothetically) to one on the first flush is only going to grow bigger because of the change in conditions so harbors no additional benefit in terms of taking a print / cloning. That is except for a bigger print size I guess...
Any thoughts?

When it comes to making prints, it makes no difference.

Since the title says prints/clones, I would like to know the answer if it was a tissue sample. When are tissue samples *BEST* taken?

I guess something I have not quite got my head round is when people say that each flush is going to have "different genetics". Now I understand that each individual mushroom has slightly different genetics(?) so does each "flush" vary increasingly more genetically from whatever initially inoculated yr spawn? or is that a dumb question

Always get clones from the first flush. You want the culture to be as young as possible.
With prints it makes no difference

With wide multi-spore variety I don't see a problem with cloning from the second flush. After all, it's quite possible that the "second flush" as we perceive it on a single whole substrate is actually the first show of a different set of genes.
The real question of when to take tissue samples is not at what point in the grow but at what point in maturation of the fruit to be cloned. I take lots of sterile pin clones and find that the size of the pin has hugely to do with the recovery time, and even the veracity of the mycelium that grows from it. The shorter the better; larger pins seem to bruise and otherwise discolor and take longer to recover and begin climbing across agar. Also I find that mycelium from the bottom half of more mature mushrooms recovers and climbs faster.
So, as opposed to taking bio samples only from the first showing, it's really just important to get the samples before the mushroom has gotten far along the maturation/decay stage. I do my best to get them by 3-4 days since the pin showed.

My opinion is:
Later flushes may be caused by slower genetics.
I have cloned from a first and second flush on the same tub with MS. This was my experience, limited as it may be.
I don't think the same holds true for isolates.
I imagine it's possible to get clones with the same genetics from a first and second MS flush, but I don't know how to tell from looking at the fruits and it would happen by random chance.
But, I think it's a matter of preference. Clone the fruits you like. Document and report your results.
As it's been said, prints don't matter.

When growing from MS I can rarely ever tell when the first flush ends and when the 2nd (3rd, 4th, etc) begins...its usually just a never ending grow for me until it contams. That being said, I have always heard to only clone from the first flush, preferably from the quickest growing/biggest fruit.
