Residential Reishi

I am currently visiting a town in upstate New York. The last time I visited back in july I found an inconspicuous reishi hiding out in a hole in the ground. I decided to check on it only to find that it has grown exponentially and is no longer confined to the hole in the ground. It is growing from underground roots from an old tree stump.

This is actually only a small portion of the mushroom or rather group of mushrooms which I am certain is a single organism feeding off from an old stump.

As we walked down the streets several blocks over we found a raised flower bed with wooden half barrel planters. This raised bed had been placed over and old stump that turns out to have reishi growing from it.  The best I can tell is the reishi grew up through the soil and began colonizing the half barrels.

There were conks forming out of a small piece of stump that was still exposed as well.

Then as we walked further we found yet another stump, this one had turkey tail  growing out of it. As I bent down to examine the turkey tail I noticed a small conk of reishi growing.

I have taken samples of all of these specimens and intend to clone them. All three are growing along the same street and within one mile of each other all on decomposing tree stumps.
