Since this is my first time finding these mushrooms, I thought I'd get a second opinion before I fed them to my family.
Tricholoma magnivelare is what I'm assuming I have here:

Western WA Mixed conifer forest. Growing terrestrially, pushing up through a bed of moss.
I was expecting a big kick in the face scent, but it's mild to me. It's certainly not your standard "earthy mushroom" smell, but I'm not sure I'd call it "gym socks and red hots" as Aurora does.

Looks to be. How, very specifically, does it smell?
I think that they don't have to be very pungent, but that spicy scent should surely be present.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Well I left them in a brown paper bag for the last couple hours. Just stuck my face in there and inhaled deeply.
"Cheesy" is what I would call it. I suppose that could be construed as "gym socks".
Still not getting cinnamon/spicy out of it.

Hmm. I always catch at least a hint of spicy cinnamon smell from them. But smell can be so subjective. What does your family think it smells like? If you shred it, will it split like string cheese?
Gill attachment rules out Catathelasma species, and stem texture/color are not consistent with Tricholoma caligatum. I don't think it can be much else.
