If you have a weak stomach (like me - I get stomach cramps just from eating 1g dry raw) you might want to experiment with lemon tekking your shrooms some time. Regular tea gets rid of most of the nausea for me but with the lemon tek its a thing of the past.

The nausea is from direct action of the psilocybin on GI serotonin receptors. The only way to avoid it is to use 5HT3 antagonist medications like zofran.

Hey Doc, can I get a script for Zofran? I'm going shrooming tonight and I want to make sure I got my Gastro Receptors protected.
Thanks!

MindDrips said: I've had multiple experiences with mushrooms, and all of these times I had wonderful trips from just ingesting the dry mushies. My boyfriend and I both experience significant gastrointestinal discomfort on mushrooms, and I was reading a few recipes for mushroom tea. The nausea never produces a bad trip, but it is an annoying side effect that both of us wish we didn't have to worry about.
I'd like to hear some first-hand advice, does anybody notice significant reduction of nausea when ingesting tea instead of the dry mushrooms?
Tea does it for me, normally. If I ate too recently though I can still get periods of queasiness.

You don't need Zofran to block 5-HT3 nausea. Eating some Ginger root or (better yet) taking some drops of Lemon essential oil precludes this nausea from occurring.
Combine this with a filtered tea to remove the indigestible chitin and you have yourself a recipe for nausea-free success.

All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental. Blessing.
