Magic in the south bay! The second pic was taken on Halloween night. The first pick was 2 days before. I'm glad I waited for the young ones to mature. I nurtured this area throughout spring and summer for such a day as this.

Hey guys, so I took some spore prints on some paper from my latest find. I have some spots scoped out that get good irrigation and plenty of wood chips I want to inoculate. What's the best technique to ensure that next year a nice patch will come up? Should I just bury the paper in the wood chips or should I mix it in with water then put it on the wood chips? Thanks for any help.

I know, I know...
But you will have to take my word for it. Today I spent the day in Vallejo running errands and found several patches of Psilocybe allenii in irrigated areas. The majority of them were rotten and old, but a few were still in good condition. I don't ever hunt down there, but apparently I should! I will go back to these spots with a camera once we get some precipitation and see how they look.

Post deleted by Alan RockefellerReason for deletion: Hunting forum rule:
5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather.
This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting.
As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.

So, I was driving around doing some errands yesterday on my day off, and I noticed some wood chips from the side of the road with some big white mushrooms. On a hunch I decided to turn around and check it out. Bam, big patch of P allenii. I don't seem to have any luck finding cyanescens, but I got a knack for finding allenii.

Gents,
Just curious, but how long will the actives season go on in the Bay Area? Someone told me it goes on until February...
