Thinking about using short half pint jars instead of petri dishes

So i got some Anti biotic MEA and a sleeve of 20 pre sterilized petri dishes about a week ago, instead of using all 20 i only used 6 i thought i was being safe by doing so in case anything went wrong and i didnt wanna waste the agar but now i think i made a mistake by not doing because now i have an opened bag of 14 petri dishes and i doubt there sterile now.
Well after inoculating 3 dishes with a spore syringe and adding tissue to clone from fruit to 3 dishes I've had the same result with both, All 6 have gotten cobweb mold in them, so im thinking of just using short wide mouthed half pint jars instead to insure a more sterile procedure.

I've tried both. I definitely prefer the pre-sterilized plastic dishes. I always make all 20 of them and then package them 2 to a zip lock bag. I stick them in the top of my closest and use them as needed

If they've been sitting in open air, I would be concerned about contamination.
Like I mentioned on your other thread, If you are getting the same contamination with both spores and tissue, I would suspect your technique is at fault.
I can't explain why your poured blank petris are not contaminated after sitting in your closet, unwrapped, in the open, without contaminating, but then show cobweb soon after inoculating.
I suspect it's just a time delay.
In your other thread, I suspected the tape you were using to wrap the inoculated plates was the problem. That was the basis of my questions.
But, you stumped me when you said the poured UN-inoculated (blank) plates were not protected at all.

I use the short wide mouth jars for petri's with an sfd on them.
Only bad part, you cant look down from the top unless its open.
You can see up through the bottom though. I just mix enough PDA right
in each jar to cover the bottom then PC.

well i opened the sleeve in the SAB and closed the bag back and put them in the closet also, I'm gunna pour the rest tonight and place in bags until i use them I'll prob wait a week and see if contams grow in them before i add anything else to them, and the ones i stored in the closet without wrapping then or putting them in a bag sat there in the closet for about 3 to 4 day sand i would imagine contams would have taken over by then but maybe i didnt wait long enough? and then when i added spores or tissue it was just a matter of time like you said.
BTW I greatly appreciate all your words and advice you've chipped in its helped me out a whole bunch!
