He's OK, but he's not even close to the best drummers which is the crazy part.
Chris Dave is easily one of the best drummers in the world. Plays with Rob Glasper and he's really just mind-blowing. He had his 4-way coordination in high school for fucks sake.

I'm not saying chris dave isnt talented, but the video you posted doesnt even compare to the ones I posted. In my opinion the other guy showed alot more skill

Maybe you missed the part where he was playing 4 different time signatures at the same time. It's definitely more subtle, you wouldn't notice it unless you really understand music (not saying you don't, but that might be the reason).
Chris Dave could EASILY play that stuff the guy in OP played, it's just some generic beats. Playing 4 different crazy time signatures over a 4/4 beat is insanely difficult, not to mention the nuance in his playing in general.

Alternatively you have guys like Brian Blade III who is pretty much universally considered to be the best drummer alive.
I have tickets to see Brian Blade with Wayne Shorter, John Patitucci and Danilo Perez later this months. So fucking stoked!

Honestly I have no knowledge of music really. I just got lost in youtube and stumbled across that video and it was the best drumming I have ever seen.
I dont have the music knowledge to listen for time signatures? I cant even tell if they mess up while they are drumming because it all sounds kind of the same to me

Not hating on the guy in OP though, he's still pretty damned good! TONS of practice and some natural talent to get to those kinds of levels.

I have a buddy who has a drum set at home and he is pretty damn good. But the guy in the video makes him look like a baby trying to do rocket science. He is on some next level drumming!

there is differentr degress of talent. as a drummer, i can say the video you posted, is awesome... the guy is talented to say the least... but he's more of a showmen, a performance, then anything... he's a skilled jazz drummer, that's for certain, but his monkey drumming is actually pretty easy to do. all you need is a bit of stick control and practice to relax your use of the wrists and your forearms, and that's it.
but that doesn't really explain how "he's a less better than drummer or ect ect" it just goes to show that one kind of drumming is one kind, and another is another; and two different styles might incorporate more of one thing or another that's less easy or more easy to do.

Rob Glasper and Chris Dave are awesome. two totally different styles of music, though.

I see what you're saying. I guess I was most attracted to how he could twirl a drum stick while also playing. And when he threw the stick behind his back and caught it and kept playing wow

If you just want to see someone go HAM on the drums look no further than Neil Peart of Rush
