taking sid for the first time in 2 years
    #19064334 - 10/31/13 04:18 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

It's been almost three years since a friend of mine dropped cid. He had alot of bad trips on it and just didn't see the point. Now his mind has changed dramatically (IE a lot more focused and comfortable), he seems a lot more stable and was concerning to trip again. Would this be a bad idea? Could this make people with autism bug the fuck out and lose there shit or would he be alright? He's afraid of falling into an 8 hour long hellish trip but at the same time wants something positive to come out of it, he would be with people that he only knew for sometime.

If your "friend" wants to eat the acid let him eat the acid, but if he's worried about having an 8 hour nightmare, I wouldn't recommend it.

If he has autism he's most at risk of having a bad trip due to the presence of others rather than just due to the acid. Maybe he's better off taking a low dose alone, especially if he doesn't know these people very well, ie. isn't 100% comfortable around them. If he feels like he has to be acting when he's around certain people, he probably doesn't want to trip with them.

Whoa dude if he is autistic he probably shouldn't do it. I know a kid who is schizophrenic (I know it isn't the same thing, but it is a mental condition) and he drops acid but definitely doesn't help him.

Well assuming OP's "friend" was speaking vicariously through OP, he doesn't seem to be "Rain Man" autistic. The spectrum is pretty wide, I have mild autism (Asperger's) and for the most part people who fall within the autism spectrum simply lack, to a greater or lesser degree, the basic social/communicative skills all humans are supposed to have. So as long as tripping doesn't somehow make that even worse (it never has for me) then there is no real drawback. Personally, the only thing that makes it worse for me is when I'm out of practice, I like to keep to myself but the drawback is I have to get used to dealing with people all over again every time. So as far as that, I can see acid having an effect, but that's all.

wow that is cool. As long as it isn't affecting your basic functions or anything. What I know is that schizophrenics should not take psychedelic drugs.

I have Schizoaffective disorder and I do just fine taking psychedelics, I don't personally see what the big deal is all about.

Well schizoaffective disorder is a personality disorder, not a neurological disorder like schizophrenia, so tripping won't negatively affect you because your brain functions properly. Schizophrenics have an abnormal brain chemistry that can be exacerbated by psychedelics. Bipolar too.

I have no idea where you're getting your information because you are just straight up wrong about schizoaffective disorder being a personality disorder.

It is Schizophrenia with co-occurring Bipolar disorder, I think you're thinking of Schizoid personality disorder.

Quote:

The symptoms and signs of schizoaffective disorder include those of schizophrenia combined with major depressive disorder and/or a manic episode. Symptoms of schizophrenia may include the following:

Hallucinations, like hearing voices, seeing, feeling, tasting, or smelling things that are not there
Delusions are ways of thinking with no basis in reality. Types of delusions include paranoid/persecutory, religious, erotic, grandiose, jealous, body (somatic) or mixed (more than one) types

I'm fairly certain I've read about an article about research in the 60's about dosing Autistic children with LSD.  They apparently had very good results with the children that were extremely autistic to the point they could no longer function in the home/school etc.
Apparently it did a good job at letting some of them fell social "love" for the first time in they're lives.  It's incredible the potential that's been squandered with LSD.  Its a crime the baby's been tossed with the bath water.
