Dead or Alive?

So I have this precious culture sent to me from an acquaintance, its been on PDA plates wraped in foil in a tuperware container (with tiny holes for gas exchange) in the fridge for a year or a littly more, while one of the plates isnt looking so great: the piece in the middle from the original transfer is turning slightly tanish brown and the rest is still white and still condensation in the dish.
The other plate looks pretty much the same as when it came white and a little condensation on the top neither have grown all the way to the walls of the dish.
being that its been so long im wondering if its still alive and viable? its really a rare once in a lifetime find and id kick myself if i killed it by waiting to long....

Do a transfer and see what happens. I recently revived a number of panellus stipticus cultures that have been sitting in the refrigerator since September 2012. They weren't looking so good but transferred and grew successfully, there seems to be no loss in vigor.
Sometimes the only way to know is to just give it a try.

Good luck, Im sure some species are hardier than others but if parts still look white and healthy I think you're in the clear.
