Listening to Heavy Metal on LSD

Has anyone here ever listened to heavy metal tripping on acid? Or any hallucenigenic for that matter. I'm a huge metal head, but the only thing I've listened to trippin is psychedelic rap, 60's rock, and daft punk. I was wondering if anyone's blasted Slayer, or jammed out to some pantera peaking. I'm curious to try it, but I don't really want a bad trip Hahahaha.

One time it came up on shuffle on my ipod....I immediately changed it.
I think there's a reason psychedelic genres are labeled as psychedelic.

If you like metal why not. I once listened to Dissection on a low dose of acid and it was fantastic. If you can learn to appreciate the diverse environments that drugs can take you to then there shouldn't be an issue.

I could see it being cool. In the past I've been pretty heavy into metal music. My tastes are just so far away from that now that it sounds awful in theory.

That's exactly what I was thinking haha. I'm blasting Machine Head right now (Burn My Eyes and Blackening, not their shitty nu metal stuff) and if I heard this tripping, I really don't know how it would treat me hahaha. I think I might try it next time I trip, and start at like Sabbath and Maiden, and work my way up to Death and Warbringer and such, because I do extremely enjoy these artists any other time.

if your a metal fan hell yeah, I prefer melodic metal like opeth or something though, some metal is just too dark to enjoy in that mindset.

Yeah, true that. So I'll probably throw in some Maiden, a select few songs from my favorite thrash bands, and most certainly Tool.

of course, tool. They're kinda psychedelic. At least the (2-3) songs i like by them.
the tool song where they repeat "sit back and watch the weather change" or something like that. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can remember a song name that'd be sweet.

I'm not a huuuuge tool fan, but my friend I trip with a lot is, so I'd just let him out on the trippiest shit they have haha. And to deathcore, I've never been a huge core fan. Just not my style. I've always just like more classic/traditional based metal. LOG is probably the most modern band I listen to hahaha

Between the buried and me album called colors. Wow that was awesome on acid! That's actually how I got into that band. Metal is great when tripping if you like it. If it starts to make the trip turn dark then turn it off. It can bring some powerful and wrathful vibes which can be awesome. It's not something I listen to often while tripping though. Also if you like Instrumental music check out animals as leaders and scale the summit! Those are my favorite! Great for tripping.

not metal but me and a bunch of friends were tripping on acid, blasting a 20 pound nitrous tank between like 8 people, and blowing lines of what we're all pretty sure was some sort of PCP analogue (got sold to us as ketamine) after a disco biscuits show and we listened to the entire "fuck world trade" album from Leftover Crack end to end. it fit the mood perfectly and everyone was very into it, the PCP shit def gave all of our moods a bit of an aggressive edginess which made us all relate to the music.

If you're into metal it can be fantastic. Listening to Wolves In The Throne Room's Two Hunters album has led to a very spiritual trip for me
Agalloch provides a great trip background as well.

I don't really like metal but I love the Pagan folk culture that is appearing all over Europe and this one in particular is black metal folk, they have many more songs and there are others like ancient bards who have a SEXY ass blonde singer but here is this...
This is more my style when it comes to the European Pagan band culture.

If you like specific music sober, you'll enjoy it tripping. I'm definitely a metalhead along with lots of my buddies, and we play it quite often while tripping.
I first heard this while on acid, I was caught in a weird thought loop and the first pinch harmonic snapped me out of it and put a huge grin on my face.
I've listened to the Black Dahlia Murder, Necrophagist, Burzum, and many more and I loved it. Most people won't enjoy really br00tal stuff while tripping, but Animals as Leaders is fantastic even if you're not a metalhead. Tosin Abasi is the equivalent of a god.

You can't go wrong listening to metal while tripping if you enjoy it so much sober.
I love listening to anything with complex guitar work while tripping regardless of the genre.

In the early/mid 80's I spent a lot of quality time tripping and getting into Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Rush (not really metal). I was into the early stuff from those bands. But around that time they all evolved and became too dark for me. One thing I really loved was guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. He put out an instrumental album called Rising Force and it's a masterpiece. He went to crap later on, but that album is amazing. It's lots of fun to listen to while tripping, you can see the mathematical perfection of each song and each guitar part.

I feel like overly aggressive shit like Warbriger, Pantera would trip me out to much in a bad way haha. I think I'm going to pop in Death's "Human" next time I drop. Personally, I think that was Chucks best work, and there is some trippy ass shit on that album, and its not too aggressive.

I enjoy the instrumentals of metal, and I really respect the talent of those who play those crazy-ass riffs, but it's not necessarily my music of choice. I don't think I could listen to metal while tripping, as I don't often enjoy listening to it as much as other genres. I suppose you could say I never "got into it".
However, if you enjoy metal while sober, I'm sure it would be interesting to listen to while tripping! I personally think it would be a bit too intense for me haha

Like witch finder said, the band Sleep!! The album Dopesmoker is great when spun.
Electric Wizard is an awesome band, and so is the band Acid King! All "Doom metal" which isnt scary like it sounds, actually super trippy.
Static-X is great when combined with Ketamine.

I don't see why you'd have a bad trip. Psychedelics don't change the things you like or your opinions. They enhance them. If you enjoy metal sober, I bet you'll love it while tripping. If you're someone who gets disturbed by some of the lyrics that are in those songs, then it's very possible they could induce a bad frame of mind.
It just depends on the person.

Metal is awesome, music is infinitely more amazing when tripping, you can't go wrong with it (if you enjoy it sober, that is) I really enjoy stuff like Machine Head or Lamb of God when I'm tripping on acid, it's just so powerful and intense and when it's combined with the trip it's just pure insanity.

I will always be metal, even if im trippin' too. Iron Maiden- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son always brings me back to my last trip. That song had me tripping hard. The album Powerslave makes me feel like im in a pyrmid exploring tombs and such. The whole album is one big adventure.

Hell yea it's awesome as shit dude. I wouldn't do it at the peak though. But right after the peak of acid one time I listened to Wintersun's the land of snow and sorrow for like 2 hours on repeat. Djent is pretty cool while tripping too, I listened to the whole altered state album by tessaract, also after a lsd peak, while looking at the stars It was really amazing i recommend it. Cynic is pretty cool too, if you've ever heard of them. Listened to traced in air on a shroom peak, it was a bit too intense, so I ended up turning it off and resuming my listening after the peak. Melodic/Folk metal and Progressive metal is great for trippin, but like i said, wouldn't recommend it until after the peak.

I "accidentally" listened to Between the Buried and Me (The Anatomy Of) while under the influence of some strong doses back in 2007....I never would've expected it, but it was quite an awesome experience. The next CD in the stereo was Neil Young (Harvest Moon)....what a vibe change that was!

So when I had my first acid trip, I was over-prepared, checked every song, threw one out cause it had phone like tone in it (thought I might freak out even if I turn off my phone), all heavy/dark stuff was removed from playlist and so on. [better to over-prepare than to take it too lightly] (I am metalhead, but do not enjoy metal with cannabis). So I tripped really nice and understood, that LSD does not make me anxious. Last night I had my second trip, again, I started with some blues tunes and stuff like Maggot Brain from Funkadelic. Then I got bored, tried out some Lamb Of God (got pretty excited with them), later on some more dark stuff like Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis, then some deathcore. As I had really mild trip, I totally enjoyed this music. For larger doses I guess I wouldn't listen to heavy stuff, but with mild ones, yep, me likey.

Electric Wizard is great! Check out iRepress for some smooth metal thats heavy but not overbearin and really caries the mind well.
Fear Factory is also great with alittle Ketamine added to the mix.
Listen to this album by iRepress while tripping if you like metal:

If you like it sober you should like it high. I listen to black, death, and technical metal fucked up and I love it.
The sub-quarters of the craft Harbors an alien juggernaut Psilocybin has no effect in calming the beast Thrashing around for decades In the hull of the ship The Scion of another world The beast, a serpent enveloping its prey Progeny of an alien
Abaddon Spawn of An altered Hades forged in an abysmal alien Inferno The heir of alien demi-gods revels In obsession Compelled inheritably to feed upon virvum Forever drawn to virvum Forever in desire
Kept in a remissive state weak and frail Infantile, nurtured in The womb of the ship Scraps of alien flesh rejected Weak beings with defects Are cast into the pit
The emperor finds amusement in the feeding salivating with excitement as he lurks from above Resembling the age of Roman coliseum carnage Alien peons, the beast, virvum juggernaut Ritual feeding takes place frequently Monitored carefully, fed just enough to sustain life Inadequate to obtain the strength to overtake Absorbing foreign cells, consuming all vitality
Its' thirst for Virvum is left unquenched Awaiting the taste of blood
Once on Earth Virvum will explode Into fountains of a ever-changing foreign hue A flourishing Eden of life forms awaits Eventually absorbed
The juggernaut Awakened To Consume The Enemy The ultimate Weapon for Collecting Diadem It's awaiting In darkness Staying hidden Then Snatching All forms of life And growing Becoming More powerful
The habitual life detector Soon will rise from the void Stewed down from the sky Skattered about the doomed planet Starved and unmerciful Awareness begins to heighten As the creature enormously grows Cells continue to multiply
On a starved planet with a slow dying race An expedition to obtain Zeal has begun Entranced in decades of psychedelic sleep In the far reaches of space, a thirty year voyage has commenced
A forest of alien spores decorate the interior of the ship Creating overlapping shelves of exotic foreign shrooms Pods of slumber, mimic the layered strain
Each pod unique in design Enveloped by terrestrial hieroglyphs The scent of foreign fungus reeks pungent to The human senses yet calms the alien soul
Synthesis Not needed To thrive Xenogeneic Psilocybin Multiples From within The chilled Damp chambers Anxiously Awaiting To rise
Hallucinogens blanking the alien mind Strains of bacteria bask in metamorphosis Breeding hybrid strains, constantly strengthening Melting minds into stasis
A canvas of intertwining rods of cells Making residence of the stagnant air
Inhuman cyborg pilots the craft And feeds the cells watching over them Soon to grow into abominations Advanced molecules unknown to man
The emperor Preaches the Scriptures of a Foretold prophecy As ancient Alien Shamans use Psychedelics As tools to Become one With the Earths Mighty powers
Foreign color stream Illuminates Their window to the planets Perception stripped of all matter Revealing the paths to vitality

I love Electric Wizard. Especially when I used to smoke, so I'll give them a try. And maybe some LOG. Warbringer has some pretty melodic stuff on their new album so I might try a few songs from that as well

I checked out Sol Eye Sea album, might like them when tripping, I will probably give them a try, thanks.
To Deathcore If question about deathcore bands was for me..
All Shall Perish (sad thing is that Eddie won't do their vocals anymore) <- Liked a lot on acid Whitechapel <- Was okay Chelsea Grin <- "Liked The Human Condition" Make Them Suffer <- Totally enjoyed their sympho type of deathcore Winds Of Plague <- Was okay Then I switched to videos, watched that 50's video about LSD experiment. And yeah, Oceano's new stuff is awesome, though I still listen Contagion album the most.

If you are a fan of Devin Townsend, listen to him. For me (being a huge fan of his work) I listened to his entire album Ki while tripping on L. It was intense. Lots of ups and downs in that album.

Gojira - Of Blood And Salt (feat. Devin Townsend & Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah)) must be great on LSD. Will give it a try one day.

Melodic death metal for sure. I love Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy is pretty good too. I really dig how Arch Enemy has a female vocalist.

Have you seen an Arch Enemy show? Her voice is quite impressive.
Here's an amazing album to trip to:
The bandmembers live on a farm in the woods near Olympia, WA, so psychedelics are probably part of their inspiration

I think there's a reason psychedelic genres are labeled as psychedelic.
I can't even stand metallica on psychedelics :-P
it's like they enjoy pain and suffering, lol
psytrance for me
but else they were my favorite band for 15 years or so
sometimes pink floyd can be good though... shine on you crazy diamonds comfortably numb wish you were here the wall welcome to the machine pulse dark side of the moon etc.. is there anything PF I don't love?
PF is love, but I still prefer progressive psytrance

i don't listen to metal much on LSD....but ALCEST is definitely a good metal-ish band to trip to. i have to be in a very, very strange mood to do metal with LSD. i much enjoy old smashing pumpkins psychedelic type of shit, classical music, jazz, and ambient music when tripping. grateful dead, WSP, SCI etc. is best for coming down. *dodges people throwing knives at him*

I've heard that to be true as well. But some music I don't really "get into" as much but still enjoy, I enjoy much more tripping, which makes me enjoy them more than I did after that trip. So I don't want heavy ass metal to give me a bad trip causing me to enjoy it less after that trip! I mean it's unlikely but still haha

Listened to this while smoking a cigarette on some NBOMe's and it felt like I was the master of hell and little demons were pouring from my cigarette every time I ashed. A very cool feeling to say the least
Go into a bathroom look into the mirror and blast this song as loud as you can handle. I Promise you it will be one of the most intense psychdelic moments of your life. It was for me.

.. in a bathroom in front of the mirror, with echo and 10 extra dimensions in the room
the bathroom is pretty good for guitar playing, always adds an extra dimension to my playing :-) better acoustics somehow

I completely understand that but think a bit about this comment. You said, Some music I don't really "get into" as much but still enjoy and tripping amplifies it through the trip. It's very likely that it could fuck up your trip because it is still amplified experiences, for example DOI fucked up the song "This is Halloween" for me forever.
But back to the true subject at hand, what music do you, "really get into"? Because I believe if you listen to what music you connect with and groove to in real life while tripping you make a true connection with it and that can lead to more profound realizations. In a way that's what I meant by "whatever music you like sober"

This is very true. But the music I get into most sober is Metal. And usually angrier metal, like Pantera, Slayer, and other thrash/heavy shit. I connect to the bands differently depending on how I feel. I can get happy and energized listening to them, or if I'm in a pissed off/depressed mood I can listen to them while angry/sad. So I can connect with it in different ways, and I wouldn't want the negative way to come up while tripping. Where as with other certain music, like classic rock and rap I can only listen to when feeling happy or upbeat. So I don't know. It could be good, could be bad. But I don't want tripping to ruin any classic metal albums for me, I know that.

Listen to Cynic's EP Carbon Based Anatomy and their album Traced in Air. They're so much more mellow and complex. Makes for great tripping music. I can't take acid and not listen to Cynic

I think I might try it next time I trip, and start at like Sabbath and Maiden, and work my way up to Death and Warbringer and such, because I do extremely enjoy these artists any other time.
I think metal would be horrible on an acid trip... I mean, it's called Burn My Eyes and Blackening for a reason... sound affects us in real ways and imo, metal in a very bad one. If it makes you feel horrible and scared when tripping, it's doing shit to your brain and body when sober, too... not good. I don't want to sound like a Christian and say its the devil, but in a non biblical way I believe it is.
We are sound.. sound affects our brain, our mood, our heartbeat, our whole feeling, sense of well-being and health..

Precisely. Different strokes. I personally prefer some nice Liquid DnB or mellow acoustic on trips. But I could definitely rock out to some metal, especially if it's super melodic.
