P90X?
    #19067517 - 11/01/13 12:58 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I am fat. I no longer want to be fat.
Anyone care to share their thoughts/opinion on P90X?
Has anyone used it in the past with success?

p90 is a gimmick, it's just an aerobic/calisthenics workout that pussies who need someone to hold their hand and are too scared to get seen at the gym do. make your own routine, start doing push-ups everyday to get used to your heart rate being up, then from there go into either lifting real weight, or doing your own calisthenic workout, ala p90x without spending 400$.

It is a decent program for those that lack the motivation and know how to work out on their own.  If you stick to the program and eat right you are bound to loose weight.  I am not saying it is the best way to loose weight, but if you are a novice at lifting/working out it can be very beneficial for you.

If anything you can go through all the videos a couple times, figure out what exercises you like, and then make up your own routine with some of those plus your own.

I'm getting out of the hobby and into a medical profession so no more growing, not even small amounts.
I do find that I require a laid out regimen  because I lose focus without one. Money is also a factor,
I live out of town so gas money for traveling as well as gym membership would not be feasible.
Small buttfuck nowhere town so everything costs more.

Have you seen P90X? The program is much more rigorous than doing standard pushups, pullups, or even weights at the gym. They do many variations of strenuous exercises with little break time. It's definitely not a "pussy workout." If anything, the main problem about P90X is that it's so advanced, that beginners will find it virtually impossible to keep up. I think P90X is a great weight loss program, if you can keep up that is. It's best for losing, not gaining.

PS Thanks to the person above me for posting a torrent, I'm going to add this to my cutting cycle.

I have seen it, a good friend of mine got bought it. I strength train, to me it's a joke. I rotate calis/ power lift cycles and I wouldn't trade it, or the results for it. and my friend lost 30 sum lbs doing it, it worked as a 90 day cutting agent yes, also looks like he lost muscle mass from it as well. differing opinions I guess, what looks good nowadays is different than what I think is good. most people just want to be skinny, not caring about any actual muscle gains. my opinion it's pussy, wouldn't waste my time on it. ps- my friend gave up working out after the 90 days and didn't follow the aftercare lol, working out is a mindset, lifestyle change, not a 90 day fat burning regimen

@bold - that is a very important thing to keep in mind. If you do a program like this and get decent results and then plan to go back to the way you were eating/working out before the program you will probably end up looking like you did before the program.

If you do something like p90x you need to use it as a starter for your working out, not the end all be all.  Take the positives from the program and then continue to build you r workout routine until it is tailored to your needs.

Dude I'll share my 2 cents. The way I got from couch potato to 6 packs abs for the first time ever, was when I made a bet with a mate. I believe he was going to do the P90X, and unlike me, he'd have the discipline to do it. Indoors, training, blah not for me.

What I did is I looked into fat burning, how it's done, and came up with:

- training in the morning. most effective time of the day to train, bar none. 10 mins trained here = 20 or more in the evening. this makes it BEST for lazy people like you and me.

- training outside. specifically sprinting and sprint-type activities that get a lot of "bang" per minute put in, burning fat much longer than the training itself. So every morning I'd go outside and sprint or rollerskate at high speeds, giving it all, for short bursts. Make the first week the "Just Show Up" week, meaning you have to physically show up each morning first thing, wearing sports shoes ready to go. Form the habit

- Yerba Mate, or if you have coca leaf or some other stimulant, go for it. I used yerba mate as it's also a thermogenic, helps you burn fat faster.

- for diets and nutrition, obviously eat healthy. for how to eat, see "Paul McKenna Will Make You Thin" - great approach to regulating your food intake. Made by a very effective hypnotist and therapist, not just a doc with a list of foods.

- print and put your BEFORE picture, teh fat one, where you can see it daily. Best on your fridge and bathroom mirror.
Studies have shown this to be incredibly effective to pushing you to actually train, not just wish and dream about it. Months from now this act right here will make the most difference. If you're going to do ANYTHING to start your positive change, do this one. This is the one people talk themselves out of, thinking that no they don't need it, such tricks are beneath them because they're disciplined and awesome. Which is obviously true, hence all the fat

I'm sure more year-long trainers will know everything in significantly more detail, but I've found their advice to be very hard to take for a beginner, especially one not used to, or not liking the gym environment. Parks are free and they're in the great outdoors!

very cool, I also love being outside, I do a lot of pull-ups on the side of the house and chop firewood as well. the morning routine is very true, sets off the metabolism for the rest of the day, and you'll feel tired by the end of the day for a good night of sleep as well. good sleep routine is very important.

If you study hormone levels, then yes, the best time to do cardio is definitely in the morning. Mainly because you have 3 hormones active when you wake up first thing in the morning, one of which is cortisol. Your insulin levels are low, but very sensitive, which means if you are trying to burn fat you should not eat for at least 1-2 hours after you wake up. At this stage, your body is already in a fat-burning mode, so doing cardio will help accelerate fat-burning.

Mid-noon-time, is supposedly the worst time to be working out. There aren't very many hormones going through your body, and you can't do much with them.

Between 4-7 is actually the best time to be doing some lifting. Your body is pumping with hormones such as testosterone, that helps to build muscle. Insulin is a growth factor, so to build muscle, you need to break down the muscle fibers and induce glut response and deplete your glycogen stores. Therefore, this time is actually THE BEST time to work out, as the carbs that you consume before workout will store in the muscle as opposed to fat cells.

Now, most people work out at night after their work day. This is the second best time to work out. Your body produces growth hormones and does so in the morning, and you can take advantage of this fact. At this time, you do NOT want to take low GI carbs such as brown rice or whole grains. The reason for this is because these types of carbs keep your insulin levels elevated for longer periods of time, which prevents your natural growth hormone from spiking. So the best type of carbs to consume at night are HIGH, rapid-eliminating carbs such as sugars. Some fruit or some Gatorade is the best, as it will cause your insulin levels to drop very quickly, and thus do not interfere with the growth hormone in your body as you sleep.

I have the same opinion of p90x as i do crossfit. Ill try to put it nicely so the crosscult wont get hurt in their butts. Its a gimmeck/scam. Yeah youll lose some weight cool. Yeah you may even get some abs. Great. But heed this.

"Abs on a skinny guy are like tits on a fat bitch, useless"

Go to the gym, lift, run. Gain strength ( real strength not erratic piss poor form CF exercises) and run to cut down on fat. Over the long run lifting will help tremendously to help you burn calories. The more muscle mass the more calories burned a day, compaired to the 2-4 hour burn of cardio plus the addition of cortisol release? No thanks.
