If a whole bunch of people read guides on how to generate a steady income via gambling and moved to Vegas, how many do you think would succeed?

Look up Vegas Odds...
...then see how you can make them better. It's called "gambling" for a reason.

First tip: Don't go to Vegas if you want to make a living gambling. All the pros are there, they'll eat you alive.
Second tip: Poker is your only option unless you are smart enough to count cards at blackjack, which is even a bigger gamble considering its illegal.
Third tip: You need to put some money limits, time limits, profit limits and loss limits and respect them ALL THE TIME. No excuses.
Fourth tip: Play everyday, sober and constantly analyze your play and rethink your moves.
Profit

It is not illegal to count cards. They just won't let you in the casino anymore if they catch you.

as most people who would consider gambling for a career are compulsive addicts, i would suggest not going for it - as tip #3 will inevitably fail to be followed and end in a bust.

Donald Trump was born on third base and thought he hit a triple. I got a better idea. Ask Steve Wynn

So what your saying is, if I gave you like 20 million dollars, you could easily turn it into into 3 billion dollars before you retire?

Gambling for a living is a dead end endeavor. I've tried it, tried it for years in my younger days. I always made money but making enough to live on is another question and getting ahead is really hard. Poker is about the only thing you can win at and in vegas between the rake and the pros, its like getting blood from a stone.
Another factor is the mental and psychological aspect. It can be super discouraging when you hit the extended runs of bad luck, and everyone hits them from time to time. It can make you think everything you learned was wrong. You sit there playing the best hands and lose time after time to chumps. Very few can make more than min wage over the long haul playing poker. Blackjack is even harder because you have to move around constantly to evade being thrown out for counting. There are more swings of fortune in blackjack than poker and you need a bigger bankroll than you do for poker.
Play for fun, play when you have spare time, do not try to make a living at it. Maybe a few dozen people in the world are successful in the long run. Successful meaning they make really decent money at it. Many do well for years and then hit the bad steak that breaks their discipline or breaks their bankroll. You can be the best player in town but if your bankroll won't withstand a bad run of luck you can be busted quick.
IOW, don't quit your day job.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835) Trade list http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18047755
